Research On The Cultural Origin And Spatial Artistic Conception Of Caotang Temple In Xi’an

Buddhist temple garden is an important branch of Chinese classical garden and an indispensable important type of Chinese garden.With the overall rise of tourism,the return of reclusive thoughts and the pursuit of spiritual life become the trend of The Times,Buddhist temples have become a place of public fascination.Located at the northern foot of Zhongnan Mountain in Huxian County,Xi ’an city,Shaanxi Province,caotang Temple is the Taoist temple for Kumarajiva to translate buddhist scriptures.As the ancestral home of the Tri-sect of Buddhism,it has unique historical,cultural and social values.Cao Tang Temple is located at the northern foot of Zhongnan Mountain in Xi ’an,which forms a landscape spatial pattern with Zhongnan Mountain and the ancient city of Xi ’an,and affects the spatial artistic conception of Cao Tang Temple.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the site selection and layout of Cao Tang Temple.The site selection and layout of traditional Chinese Buddhist temples,on the basis of artificial construction,skillfully use the landscape to create a unique artistic conception of the space of Buddhist temples,which contains the Chinese thought of "unity of heaven and man",thatched hall temple is the concrete embodiment of the wisdom of traditional Chinese construction.By combing the traditional construction wisdom of China,this paper explores the spatial relationship between Caotang Temple,Zhongnan Mountain and the ancient city xi’an from a macro perspective,reveals the spatial pattern of "mountain,temple and city" among the three,and analyzes the spatial ecological elements of Caotang Temple from a micro perspective,thus demonstrating the excellent site selection idea of Caotang Temple.Furthermore,the spatial layout of thatched Cottage Temple and the spatial organization of the garden are deeply analyzed to make clear the spatial characteristics of thatched Cottage Temple.Try from the thatched cottage temple site selection superior spatial pattern and layout rigorous garden space perspective,to mount zhongnan buddhist culture and xi ’an holy mountain historical and cultural background of ancient capital,combined with thatched cottage temple space artistic conception of landscape,it is concluded that this temple has a solemn silence,vacant clean,of primitive simplicity vicissitudes and distant lonely multiple artistic conception of the conclusion.Finally,according to the present situation of Thatched Cottage Temple,the design strategy is put forward to further improve the space artistic conception of thatched Cottage Temple.
