Bridges play an important role in human society,and the health of bridges directly affects the economic development of society and the life and property safety of traffic participants,so it is crucial to monitor bridge structures and keep abreast of their health conditions.The traditional wired sensor monitoring method uses a wired network and the measurement data is transmitted to the control center through wires,which has problems such as difficult deployment,high price and high failure rate.The use of wireless sensor network technology in the field of bridge health monitoring can effectively solve the problems in the traditional monitoring methods.In this paper,a wireless sensor bridge health monitoring device is designed based on the advantages of XBee wireless transmission technology and the open source platform Arduino.Firstly,the Arduino platform and XBee technology are studied,and the characteristics of both are combined with the requirements of the sensor performance index and the characteristics of the target signal for bridge health monitoring,a new idea of wireless sensor design is proposed,and the overall scheme of the wireless sensor node is designed,and the hardware design and software design are carried out according to the scheme.In terms of hardware,the acceleration sensor module,wireless communication module,power supply module and external protection device are designed respectively;in terms of software,the drivers and signal processing programs of the acceleration sensor module and wireless communication module are designed.Finally,an acceleration sensor with low energy consumption,small size and low cost was developed.To verify its performance,indoor and outdoor tests were conducted,firstly,in an indoor laboratory component model,and then applied to an outdoor model of a steel glass pedestrian bridge.The acceleration data measured in the tests were compared with the test results of commercial equipment and finite element analysis using Fourier spectrograms and power spectrograms,respectively.The results show that the acceleration sensor based on Arduino can complete the data acquisition and transmission with high accuracy,obtain the vibration characteristics of the structure,and realize the monitoring of the bridge health condition.Compared with the traditional monitoring equipment,this device is worthy of further development and promotion.
