With the deepening trend of population ageing,silver-haired people make up an increasing proportion of the total population and the silver industry is developing hotly.The new generation of information technology represented by big data and the Internet of Things has led the new elderly group to actively embrace the digital age.The lifestyles and values of the new elderly group are gradually opening up a gap from those of the traditional elderly.They are seeking more quality entertainment activities to enhance the quality of life in their later years,and the corresponding age-appropriate entertainment products in the market are in urgent need of updating.Empathy is a mature research method in the field of user experience,which has unique advantages in capturing the potential needs of users and can provide strong support for the redesign of age-appropriate entertainment products.Firstly,based on the concept of empathy design,the paper analysed the specific applications of empathy at different design levels,summarised two types of empathy:active and indirect,and three designer roles: observer,guider and experiencer,and clarified the empathy design system for age-appropriate entertainment products,which involved real contact with users to perceive empathy,reasoning about user situations to guide empathy,and exploring system requirements to verify empathy.Then,empathy design tools such as empathy observation,empathy interviews,role-playing and scenario maps were used to comprehensively obtain user profiles in three periods: before,during and after recreational activities,and to obtain the needs of new seniors for recreational products and their pain points when carrying out recreational activities.The paper established a general index system for recreational products applicable to new elderly,constructed a demand judgment matrix to calculate the weight values of each indicator and obtained the demand priority ranking of age-appropriate entertainment products.Based on the ranking of the specific indicators,the paper proposed specific strategies for the design of age-appropriate entertainment products to enhance the experience of new elderly users: "lighten the product" to increase the positive application of the product,"intuitive interaction" to enhance the short-term emotion of the product,and "experience linkage" to reshape the long-term value of the product to reinvent the long-term value of the product.Finally,the paper chosed "leave a trace" as the main function of the product,chosed "micro-tap and intelligent terminal" as the main function carrier.and clarified the product appearance,material,color,interaction context,operation mode,information architecture,prototype and interface,experience design and other levels of design objectives.The empathy effect was also verified through usability testing.The paper applies empathy theory to the design of age-appropriate entertainment products,not only focusing on the user experience during the recreational activities of the new elderly,but also compensating for the short period of emptiness after the recreational activities,proposing the experience design concept of "restructuring the fragments of the recreational experience",providing a new starting point for future researchers to design products and services that meet the practical needs of the new elderly.It provides a new starting point for future researchers to design products and services that meet the practical needs of the new elderly.
