Speeding or unreasonable speed choice is one of the main causes of traffic accidents. For a long time, people focus on controlling drivers’ speed choice through traffic facilities. However, many serious traffic accidents caused by speeding or unreasonable speed choice showed that we know little about the influence mechanism of speed control measures on drivers’ speed choice. Therefore, this paper intends to use the methods of simulation test, field test and personality attribute questionnaire survey to analyze the change characteristics of drivers’ actual speed and perceived speed when driving through speed control measures. And to clarify the influence mechanism of various speed control measures on driver’s speed choice combined with driver’s personality attributes.Taking the geometric characteristics and speed control measures of typical sections of Xianxun Expressway(G69)in Shaanxi Province as the prototype, based on UC win/road simulation software, the road simulation models including 120km/h,100 km/h and 80 km/h speed limit signs were constructed.20 drivers were recruited to the public for simulation test to obtain the speed data before and after the speed limit signs, and then through questionnaire survey get driver personality attribute data.Based on the analysis results of vehicle speed and acceleration in the process of passing through the speed limit sign, the influence of the speed limit sign on the driver’s speed choice was evaluated. The results showed that the speed limit value was positively correlated with the overall speed of traffic flow(r= 0.983),Sig.< 0.05);if there was no compulsory measures, only relying on the speed limit sign had little effect on the driver’s speed choice, and the lower the speed limit value, the higher the speeding personnel proportion.Further analysis of the speed behavior of drivers with different personality attributes showed that speeding behavior is related to the driver’s attributes, and the more responsible the driver was,the more likely to abide by the road speed limit rules. To verify the correctness of the above results, the actual road section(G69)corresponding to the model was selected for field test. The results were basically consistent with the simulation test, and the maximum error of average speed was within 7.6%(on 120km/h test road).Considering that only in the real environment can drivers feel the deterrent force of compulsory speed limit, the field test was used to explore the impact of compulsory law enforcement measures on drivers’ speed choice.Taking the speed limit of 100km/h and 80km/h with video capture as the research object, this paper analyzed the driving speed data before and after the compulsory law enforcement measures, and obtained the influence law of the compulsory law enforcement measures on the drivers’ speed choice. The results showed that no matter the speed limit value was high or low,the speed chosen by drivers when they pass the compulsory law enforcement measures was lower than the speed limit value. It showed that the compulsory law enforcement measures can effectively restrict the driver’s speed choice behavior. The influence of lateral(variable spacing),longitudinal and fishbone deceleration markings on driver’s speed choice was studied through simulation test and field test. The actual speed and perceived speed data before and after vehicle passing through the markings were obtained.By comparing and analyzing the average speed and perceived speed changes, the influence characteristics of deceleration markings on drivers’ speed choice were explored. The results showed that the lateral deceleration marking and fishbone shape had the most significant influence on the driver’s speed choice, which can effectively reduce the driver’s driving speed.Specifically,it could effectively reduce the speeding personnel proportion(more than 21%).The research results of this paper can provide a theoretical reference for the design of freeway speed management measures, which is of great significance to reduce the traffic accident rate caused by the unreasonable speed choice of drivers and improve road safety.
