Study On The Historical Evolution And Characteristics Of Ancient Zhaoqing Qixingyan Municipal Garden

Based on years of theoretical research and practical experience,Professor Liu Guanping of South China University of Technology,winner of Lifetime Achievement Award of Landscape Architecture,initiated the concept of "Municipal Garden".As one of its typical existing examples,Qixingyan Municipal Garden in Zhaoqing has rich historical heritage and distinct regional characteristics.This research is the first time to study its association with Zhaoqing city from the perspective of Municipal Garden,which not only fills the research gap of Lingnan Municipal Garden in Zhaoqing area,but also has certain guiding significance for inheriting the wisdom of Lingnan Municipal Garden construction and guiding contemporary urban landscape practice.In this thesis,the ancient Qixingyan Municipal Garden in Zhaoqing is taken as the research object.From the perspective of municipal gardens,through sorting out and summarizing relevant historical data and field investigation,combined with the research results and methods of history,aesthetics,sociology,geography,gardening and other disciplines,the historical evolution of Qixingyan Municipal Garden in Zhaoqing is systematically combed,and its three important characteristics of publicity,ecology and ornamental are deeply discussed,trying to analyze the historical connotation relationship between it and the city.First of all,the thesis combs and summarizes the evolution background of Qixingyan Municipal Garden,and summarizes the natural foundations such as karst landform characteristics,evolution of Xijiang River and pleasant regional climate.Relying on the political promotion of military superiority,economic development based on Xijiang River and relatively stable social environment and other historical conditions,the humanistic background such as Confucianism of sharing happiness with the people,cultural customs of group gardens,mythical imagination and love stone complex are the important foundations for the formation and development of Qixingyan Municipal Garden.Secondly,the thesis makes a detailed study on the historical evolution of Qixingyan Municipal Garden.Based on the comprehensive study of research data,the thesis divides the development period of Qixingyan Municipal Garden into: Tang and Song Dynasties-historical formation period,Yuan Dynasty-stagnation transition period,Ming Dynasty-vigorous construction period,Qing Dynasty-surplus construction period,sums up the typical garden construction events in each period and their historical significance,deduces the overall landscape form and garden pattern of Qixingyan Municipal Garden in each period,and reveals that state-led construction is an important motivation for the evolution and development of Qixingyan Municipal Garden.Generally speaking,the historical evolution of Qixingyan Municipal Garden can be summarized as follows: "It flourished in Tang and Song Dynasties,declined in Yuan Dynasty,flourished in Ming Dynasty,flourished in Qing Dynasty and declined in the late Qing Dynasty",which has diachronic characteristics.Finally,the thesis discusses the characteristics of Qixingyan Municipal Garden from the aspects of publicity,ecology and appreciation.In the aspect of publicity,the thesis discusses the public characteristics of statewide gardens in Qixingyan from the perspectives of state administration and serving state officials and people.In the aspect of ecology,the thesis analyzes the specific role of Qixingyan Municipal Garden in the overall ecological construction from the whole to the local,and summarizes the ecological characteristics of the coexistence of cities and lakes.In the aspect of ornamental value,from the perspective of large-scale to smallscale,the thesis analyzes the specific ornamental features of Qixingyan Municipal Garden in the state capital,the appreciation of lakes and cities,and its own gardens,and sums up its ornamental features.Summarizing the public,ecological and ornamental features of Qixingyan Municipal Garden can provide a certain guiding reference for the construction of contemporary Qixingyan Scenic Area and even Zhaoqing scenery.
