| One of the biggest industries dealing with many challenges because of its largescaled projects is the constructions industry.Every phase along the process brings together different actors from different cultural background and knowledge;to these actors are assigned a certain amount of work to achieve a common objective which is completing the project on time and within the budget, including customers’ satisfaction.Considered to be Africa’s most populated country and which has for the past decades accomplished many progresses in road and highway infrastructures building. But also,as most African countries faces difficulties on the efficiency and effectiveness of road constructions, the Nigeria’s construction industry suffers from many problems that happen during the pre and post construction process, where some of the issues are related to the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of supply chain management and logistics implication in construction projects. The study conducted for this paper was to determine the factors involved in the bad performance of the flow of material, information, and finances regarding road infrastructure projects.Following AHP,a questionnaire survey was established and analytic hierarchy analysis on the survey to determine the wedge of risk factors, then the consistency followed by the consensus indices to confirm how great is the threat of the analyzed factors on the project.First to understand the importance of the thesis concepts and their significance in construction and road constructions,a literature review of previous publications was carried out regarding risk affecting the logistics and supply chain of road projects. It was found out that the supply chain of road construction material and equipment in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is indeed challenged by multiple risk factors affecting the durability of many roads, although after data collection using AHP questionnaire survey and data analysis through AHP software of MS excel version, the results show that Equipment damages during transportation, poor organizational structure and infrastructure issues are the top three highly ranked risks followed by site management issues, material installation and testing time consuming due to language barriers. |
