Since the 19 th N ational Congress of the Communist Pa rty,the governments of all levels and society had paid more special attention of the beautiful China construction as the core content of ecological civilization.Advocate to support the green building concept, encourage the development of new construction architecture and low carbon environmental protection building materials. In this social context, mode rn timber structural architecture has a green building system and returning to the public vision. However, modern timber structural buildings are lower application in cold region(hereinafter referred to as cold region),this is mainly because these existing problems such as the design and construction technology level of modern timber structure architecture is insufficient, structural and space is not coor dinated, and the construction cost is high and society, etc. The low-altitude factor limits the promot ion and development of modern wood structural buildings in the cold.As a modern timber st ructure system, mod ern plate timber structural buildings have ob vious advantages in cost control, standardization degree, and spatial flexibility. And the core concept of open building theory is to separate the "support" and "filler" of the building to ach ieve spatial adaptability, openness and sustainability of the bu ilding. Therefore, trying to introduce open building theory into the design of the col d-fashioned modern plate timber structure, trying to solve the problem of the above impact modern timber structure buildings in cold region and development. This article uses the cold-oriented modern plate timber structure construction as a research object, open building theory as theoretical foundation, combined with relevant theoretical knowledge, and propos es design principles and design methods for modern plate timber architecture in cold region and carry out corresponding design and verified. The research is mainly carried out from three aspects.First of all,the evolution and development of modern plate timber structural architecture is summarized in the background o f modern timber structures, and the modern timber structural architecture is proposed through comparative analysis of the type and characteristics of modern wood structures in cold region. The main problem, clarifies the potential and significance of moder n plate timber structural architecture with the development of the cold region. In order to make these problems reasonably and sufficiently resolved, the open building theory is introduced into the architectural design.Followed by the discussion of the sy stem and the application of open building theory to the design of modern plate timber structure architectural design in cold region. Then through the analysis and summation of the design conce pt and design metho d of open building theory, the design principles and methods for the design of modern plate timber structural architectural design are used in conjunction with open architectural theory. Finally,as the design object,it is used as the design object, and the appli cation of open architectural theory in modern plate timber structures architecture is explored from space design and structural design. In the space design level, the operating system of open architectural theory guides the spac e design of cold lo w-rise residenti al buildings. In the structur al design level, detailed discussion on plate sys tem constructing and node connection design for two plate materials suitable for modern plate timber structural architecture of the cold region. And combined with the above research results for systematic simulation design and confirmed related analysis, hoping to provide appropriate references for the design and creation of modern timber structures architecture in cold region.
