| Over the years, with the continuous advancement of the urban-rural integration process such as rural development and transformation of villages and towns, the related problems of external public space have become increasingly prominent, such as traffic failure, business inactivation, functional failure, and safety failure.Improving the quality of the external public space,to a large extent, can improve the spatial evaluation of the audience, which is an important step to directly improve the environmental quality. The purpose of this study is to explore a set of quantitative evaluation and optimization procedures for ancient towns, and to explore the feasibility and possible problems of this model in depth. It is hoped to provide a new design idea and a relatively convenient and objective post-use evaluation method for future planning and design research at the village and town level. This article mainly discusses the following three questions: Firstly, what kind of quantitative methods are currently applicable to this process? Secondly, what are the problems in the current external public space? Thirdly,it is to explore solutions to these problems from the time dimension. This research mainly contains six chapters: The first chapter proves the importance of the external public space at the level of ancient towns through the description of the research background, purpose and significance, and the status quo,and demonstrates the advantages and feasibility of quantitative analysis methods. The Yuantong Ancient Town is used as a representative sample for analysis.Through the establishment of research methods and research framework, the research path and overall thinking of this article are clarified. The next two chapters are the preparation of the preliminary data before the analysis. The second chapter further demonstrates the advantages and disadvantages of each quantitative analysis method, elaborates the theoretical development and supporting conclusions of each method,6and selects the space syntax and the breadth of the research based on the actual situation of Yuantong Ancient Town and the depth and breadth of the study.Fractal theory is used as the main quantitative method. The third chapter focuses on the basic background of Yuantong Ancient Town.It introduces its location background, superior planning, historical origin, natural resource overview and other basic characteristics, which paves the way for the analysis of the causes behind the quantitative characteristics of the later. At the same time,it sorts out and classifies the external public space of Yuantong Ancient Town, and uses surface, line and point as clues to describe and sort out the basic characteristics of its main space from macro to micro. The basic results of Chapter 4 in the first two chapters output the quantitative analysis results of the external public space of Yuantong Ancient Town from the aspects of fractal dimension in fractal theory and integration, selectivity, intelligibility, and depth value in space syntax.Preliminary analysis of its existing problems. The fifth chapter firstly establishes the basic principles for solving such problems according to relevant documents and laws and regulations, including five aspects: integrity, structure, authenticity, timing, and safety. To solve the problems that need to be urgently solved in the near future, combine with other excellent cases to give solutions;for some problems that can only be solved in the medium and long-term construction, combine the future planning of Yuantong Ancient Town to put forward opinions and future suggestions for the development of preliminary plans.Completely propose a set of feasible external public space optimization plans from various time dimensions.Chapter 6 summarizes the full text, mainly to further summarize the conclusions of Chapter 5,and put forward expectations for the future development of such ancient towns. And reviewed the entire research process, and made a summary of the research deficiencies. |
