| Under the traditional delivery model, there are often opportunistic behaviors between owners and contractors. Each participant is centered on self-profit,lacks cooperation, and has a poor level of coordination. There are often conflicts in rights, obligations, responsibilities, risk and benefit sharing, etc.,resulting in Project cost increases and resources are wasted. At the same time, the complexity of the project and the needs of the owners continue to increase, which puts forward higher technical and management requirements for improving the cooperative relationship between the participants, improving the team’s collaborative decision-making ability and collaboration level, and the traditional project delivery method can no longer meet the modernization requirements. The needs of the development of the construction industry urgently need a new way of project delivery to replace. The emergence of IPD(Integrated Project Delivery)has brought new opportunities to change the above situation.Studies have shown that the IPD model has a significantly improved effect on reducing changes, reducing risks, improving quality, increasing profits, and improving the relationship between parties compared to traditional delivery models.Contract incentives under the traditional model have a significant effect on the improvement of project performance, which has been widely recognized by the academic community.Although the IPD participants have realized the binding of interests, due to the self-interest of people, there are still potential opportunistic behaviors in the process of contract performance. In addition, contracts are incomplete, and the various clauses of the contract cannot be agreed very carefully. Therefore, the establishment of an incentive mechanism for the contract is a necessary condition for the performance improvement of the IPD model.Based on the above analysis, this study discusses the following aspects and draws the following conclusions:First, the identification of IPD contract incentive points based on grounded theory.Firstly, analyze the contract incentive research of traditional mode and partnering mode, and clarify the general set of incentive points of engineering contract.Secondly, design expert interviews and expert indicators to conduct grounded analysis on qualitative materials, and build an IPD contract incentive model. Finally, the two types of contract incentive points in the incentive model(risk sharing incentive and reward incentive)are explained.Second, the comparative analysis of contract incentive clauses under the IPD model.First, analyze the difference and connection between the IPD model and the relational contract, and conclude that the relational contract is one of the necessary conditions for the success of the IPD model, but not all relational contracts are suitable for the IPD model, and there are still some transitions.type contract.Secondly, different relational contracts are selected for comparison. This paper selects NEC construction contracts,AIA A295,AIA C191 and IFOA contracts for comparison. Finally, according to the two major incentive points of the IPD contract obtained in the first part,a comparative analysis of the contract terms is carried out.Third,a multi-case study approach is used to verify the impact of contract incentives on project performance.First, the principles and standards of case selection should be clarified, and four cases of the multi-case study in this paper should be selected on the basis of satisfying various requirements.Secondly, the four selected cases are analyzed within the case, and the content of the analysis includes the IPD contract risk sharing clause and remuneration clause.Third, conduct a cross-case analysis, compare the case groups, and verify that the IPD projects with risk sharing clauses and remuneration clauses perform better than IPD projects without clauses. To sum up,there are two innovations in this paper.First, the grounded theory is used to identify the key points of IPD contract incentives and establish an IPD contract incentive model.Second,a multi-case study approach is used to demonstrate that the IPD contract incentive points identified above have an impact on project performance. |
