| Population aging has become a problem that cannot be ignored all over the world.It is estimated that by 2050,one in six people in the world will be over the age of 65,and by that time,the number of people over 65 years old in my country will also account for 1/4 of the country’s total population.Dementia as a syndrome with acquired cognitive impairment as the core,is mostly concentrated in the elderly group over 60-65 years old.According to the World Health Organization report,there are about 10 million new cases of dementia every year in the world,which means that there will be a new case every three seconds in the world,and the total number of patients will double every 20 years.According to the 2020 Global Health Statistics Report,dementia has become the seventh leading cause of death in the world,behind only lung cancer and tracheal cancer.Although there is no cure so far,it is possible to reduce the occurrence of symptoms and delay the progression of the disease through a combination of drug therapy and non-drug therapy.A growing body of research suggests that non-pharmacological intervention based on environment and behavior can be highly effective,cause few side effects,and even reduce core symptoms to some extent.In recent years,the Chinese government has also begun to pay attention to the establishment of the elderly care service system and the improvement of the institutional environment.The14 th Five-Year Plan proposes relevant layouts to improve the living quality of the elderly life,which puts forward higher requirements for the environment and professionalism of elderly care institutions.Therefore,the exploration of the relationship between the built environment of elderly care facilities and the quality of life of the elderly with dementia has theoretical significance and practical value that cannot be ignored.This paper starts from the built environment of elderly care facilities,and focuses on its impact on the quality of life of the elderly with dementia.After reading and sorting out a large number of related literatures,based on the Competence-Environmental Press Theory,under the framework of CPM and E-B model,combined with previous literature constructs the conceptual model of this study and proposes hypotheses.Taking the elderly people with dementia and their elderly care facilities in Beijing and Tianjin as the research objects,170 valid data were collected through face-to-face questionnaires and field investigations.Using SPSS software to take empirical research methods to analyze the data and draw conclusions.The results of this study found that after controlling for personal characteristic factors,the hypothesis that the built environment of elderly care facilities and its 8 dimensions,namely Safety and Security,Awareness and Orientation,Support Functional Abilities,Facilitation of Social Contact,Provision of Privacy,Opportunities for Personal Control,Regulation and Quality of Stimulation,Continuity of the Self,positively affect the quality of life of the elderly with dementia was supported.This research carried out under the cultural background and value system of our country.It enriches the theoretical system in the field of healing environment creation in elderly care institutions for the elderly with dementia.At the same time,it helps managers and designers to develop and design related elderly care institutions.Sexual attention should be paid to the building environment factors that have a significant impact on the quality of life of the elderly with dementia,creating a space environment that meets the needs of the occupants,so as to improve the quality of life of the elderly with dementia through environmental intervention.This study carried out under the cultural background and value system of our country.It enriches the theoretical system in the field of creating a therapeutic physical environment for the elderly with dementia in my country.At the same time,it helps managers and designers to pay attention to the factors of the built environment that have a significant impact on the quality of life of the elderly with dementia when developing and designing related elderly care facilities,create a physical environment that meets the needs of occupants,so as to improve the quality of life of the elderly with dementia through environmental intervention. |
