Water shortage has always been an essential national condition of our country.The state’s water resources use also shifted to refined water use to advance technology and social development.In this process,for product design,how to better assist society in completing this transformation has become one of the responsibility of design discipline.Existing faucets on the market already have significantly fixed semantic coding and corresponding user behaviors,but it is one of the reason why there is the water waste problem.Therefore,this article is based on making products designed under user behavior,by using design thinking,the products can also influence user behavior.The thesis first collects and analyzes the subject’s research background,faucet products’ market status,and theoretical research status.Use literature analysis to clarify the causes of user behavior and classify users’ behavior in using products.Explore the existing design classification and design methods to change user behaviors,classify user behaviors based on perception behavior,user behavior,and reflective behavior,and find out four patterns in which products affect or change user behavior.Then,a subdivision analysis of faucets is carried out.By deeply analyzing product in a semantics’ way and process,analyzing the relationship between product semantics and user behavior,classify and analyze the existing water-saving faucets to find out the semantic coding of the faucets.In this way,we can explore the way how the sematic of faucet can influence user behavior.Afterward,to explore the suitable users of water-saving faucets,this thesis uses questionnaire analysis to find out the main groups of people who always wastewater in domestic water use.It continues to observe and interview this group’s water consumption behaviors to determine users’ specific process using faucets and among them.The cause of wastewater was found:lack of interpretation of the product form,the existing wastewater action,simplified or incomplete action,and behavioral inertia have become the leading causes of faucet wastewater.Accordingly,through the final collation of the above results,a water-saving faucet design method oriented toward changing user behaviors was finally formulated to guide the later design practice.This paper summarizes and studies related design methods based on influencing user behavior and proposes water-saving faucet design methods that affect user behavior.It not only improves and enriches the existing product design methods based on user behavior but also effectively understands and expands social innovation design methods.
