| With large-scale urban construction and development, public green space for people to conduct leisure activities becomes more and more important. The attention to riverfront green space is also increasing, which also makes it gradually become a driving force and vital space for urban life. With the improvement of people’s living standards, the comfort and activity needs of the surrounding landscape are increasingly emphasized in landscape design. In the process of urban greening management, riverfront environment management is extremely important,so that the riverfront park can better protect the natural ecology, improve and enhance the urban habitat landscape environment, and thus provide leisure and entertainment functions. At the current stage, the design of riverfront parks and green spaces mostly focuses on ecological landscape, and the design approach only pursues visual effects,to the point of neglecting human participation in the experience and the overall sensory perception. It can be found that the combination and use of multi-sensory experience such as vision, hearing, touch, smell and taste of riverfront landscape will become a necessary design trend. In landscape design, designers need to pay attention to the sensory experience of the landscape and apply multi-sensory experience to the design. This study aims to build an urban riverfront space that meets the needs of users’ psychological and spiritual aspects through the study of multi-sensory experience theory and design.Through literature research and case study analysis, this study collates domestic and international research on riverfront landscape and multisensory experience theory, and analyzes the expression of sensory design and existing problems and future development trends through actual cases.First of all,multi-sensory design should firstly address the needs of people and create a landscape space that meets the functional needs of all age groups, including special people, from the principle of human-centeredness.Secondly,from the analysis of the experience of each of the five senses in the landscape, the design form and the design requirements and principles of multi-sensory riverfront space are summarized. Finally, the theory is applied to the design practice of Liaocheng Riverfront Park.Taking Liaocheng Tuhai River Riverfront Park as the practice object,in view of the lack of hydrophilicity, ecological type, insufficient functional space and lack of sensory experience, through the use of visual, olfactory, gustatory, auditory and tactile experience techniques,Liaocheng Riverfront Park forms an urban ecological promenade and public leisure space with distinctive characteristics,so as to improve the waterfront ecological environment, open the waterfront activity space and enhance the public’s perceptive ability. The practice meets the functional needs of different people for the park landscape, enriches the riverfront landscape experience, and provides reference and practice direction for future landscape design. In addition, the design creates a space suitable for people with disabilities and special people and all ages to get experience in the riverfront landscape, which also reflects the social significance of people-oriented. |
