Investigation Of Bacterial Dermatosis And Bacterial Drug Resistance In Dogs And Cats In Shenzhen

With the rapid development of economy in China,people’s living standards have gradually improved,and the leisure,consumption and emotional sustenance of urban residents have been constantly changed,and the number of pets has increased steadily year by year.Dog and cat skin diseases are one of the common diseases,especially in Shenzhen,where the climate is hot and humid,and the incidence of skin diseases in dogs and cats is increasing gradually.Dog and cat skin diseases not only have a great impact on the appearance of the pet,but also have a serious impact on the life,training and intimacy of the pet.Dogs and cats have long pathological processes and are prone to recurrence.The problem of bacterial resistance is more and more prominent,which often leads to poor clinical treatment.There is no report on clinical characteristics and epidemiology of canine and cat bacterial dermatosis in Shenzhen.This paper aims to understand the epidemic characteristics of skin diseases in dogs and cats in Shenzhen through clinical investigation and epidemiological analysis,and to understand the bacterial resistance of skin diseases in dogs and cats in Shenzhen through the statistical analysis of the results of clinical drug sensitivity test sent to the doctor.1.The prevalence of bacterial skin diseases in dogs and cats in Shenzhen.This study conducted an epidemiological survey of 255 cases of dogs bacterial skin diseases and 57 cases of cats bacterial skin diseases from March 8,2018 to March 12,2019.The results showed that the bacterial skin diseases in dogs accounted for 26.59% of the skin diseases,and the number of cat bacterial skin diseases in the clinics accounted for 5.58% of the number of skin disease visits.The top three cases of common canine bacterial skin diseases were superficial pyoderma(85.88%),deep pyoderma(4.71%)and bacterial pododermatitis(3.53%)and more superficial pyoderma(84.21%)in cats.Dog and cat skin diseases occur frequently throughout the year,and the incidence of canine skin disease in summer,autumn is significantly higher than other seasons.Cat skin diseases are more common in summer,and the incidence of puppies is higher.Among the cases,the breeds of dogs with bacterial skin diseases were mostly poodle(24.09%);the majority of cats were the British shorthair(43.59%).Females with bacterial skin disease are more susceptible to disease than males.2.Resistance of dog bacterial skin diseases to common antibiotics in Shenzhen area.The data of drug sensitivity of 17 kinds commonly used antibiotics from January 2017 to March 2019 were analyzed.The results showed that Staphylococcus pseudointermediate is the main pathogen of canine bacterial dermatosis in Shenzhen and was severely resistant to ampicillin(65.57%)and roxithromycin(65.30%),which is not recommended to be used.The drug of lower resistance was cefoperazone(13.66%),amikacin(14.21%),gentamicin(21.31%),cefotaxime(27.05%),amoxicillin(27.60%),which can be considered as the treatment drug of bacterial skin disease of dogs and cats.In summary,through the statistical analysis of the epidemiological investigation of skin disease in dogs and cats and their drug sensitivity tests,the prevalence of bacterial skin diseases of dogs and cats in Shenzhen area and the drug sensitivity of major pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus pseudintermedius were preliminary explored,which provided scientific basis for guiding the rational application of antimicrobial agents and the prevention of this disease by veterinary doctors in Shenzhen and surrounding areas.
