Effect Of Dexmedetomidine Combined With Midazolam And Butorphanol On Chicken Anesthesia

The value of chickens in animal husbandry,scientific research,and teaching,is becoming increasingly prominent,and there is a lack of feasible anesthesia methods for chickens.Therefore,it is imperative to study the safe and reliable compound anesthetic for chickens.In this study,healthy Highland chickens were used as experimental animals,and different kinds of anesthetics suitable for chickens were selected for combined use,and the suitable anesthetic scheme for chickens was screened out.Through observing the anesthesia process to determine the anesthesia effect;through clinical routine monitoring and special monitoring,to judge the effect of compound anesthetics on the basic physiological function of chickens;through the detection of liver,kidney function,blood routine and blood electrolyte related indicators,to observe the effect of compound anesthetics on the main organs and blood components of the body during anesthesia,combined with various parts of the experiment,ultimately for chickens compound anesthesia.Finally,the comprehensive evaluation of chickens compound anesthesia drugs was carried out in combination with each part of the experiment.Compound anesthetics consisting of Butorphanol(2.5 mg/kg),Dextrometridine(0.2mg/kg)and Midazolam(0.5 mg/kg)were injected into the pectoralis major to produce good anesthetic effect.The results showed that:(1)The induction time of anesthesia was 2.2 ± 0.4min,the maintenance time was 73.3 ± 7.5 min,and the recovery time was 21.1 ± 3.0 min.The anesthesia process was sedative,analgesic and muscle relaxation.(2)Compound anesthesia had little effect on the respiratory and circulatory system of experimental chickens.Sp O2 was above 97% during anesthesia,with an average of 98%.(3)The compound anesthesia has no obvious damage to liver and kidney function,no obvious influence on blood routine and blood electrolyte,and no obvious side effects.(4)Operation validation test showed that the compound anesthetic could successfully complete the operation of crop incision,gonadectomy and femoral artery intubation in chickens,and the anesthetic effect was good.The results showed that the compound anesthetic consisting of Butorphanol(2.5 mg/kg),Dexmedetomidine(0.2 mg/kg)and Midazolam(0.5 mg/kg)was suitable for anesthesia of chickens and could meet the needs of general surgery and experiment.This experiment provided an effective anesthetic method for chickens and laid a foundation for further development of compound anesthetic preparations for phasianidae.
