Water lilies(Nymphaea tetragona Georgi)and lotus(Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn)are perennial aquatic herbs.It is Colorful and loved by the people.However,it was found in the production that the growth and flowering of potted water lilies and lotuses all need strong illumination.The growth of water lilies and lotuses under low-light condition is not good.It may even not bloom.Most of the potted water lily and lotus on the market are soil cultivated,which is difficult to keep clean and manage.Water lilies and lotus are also found floating on the surface of nutrient solution during hydroponics.It has few floating leaves and does not bloom.In terms of the questions,shading treatments with different gradients were applied to eleven water lily varieties and sixteen lotus varieties.The low light tolerance of water lilies and lotus were compared by principal component analysis and subordinate function.The varieties of water lily and lotus resistant to low light were screened out.Meanwhile,the soilless cultivation of water lily and lotus were studied.The hydroponic device suitable for hydroponic water lily and lotus were designed and screened.The following conclusions are drawn:1.Comparison of low light tolerance of water lily varietiesTake eleven cultivars of water lily varieties(includeing three tropical water lily species and eight hardy water lily species)as material,Shading treatment was performed with different gradients(full exposure,22%,58%,70%shading rate),nine indexes of morphology and physiology were measured.Low light tolerance was evaluated by correlation analysis and principal component analysis and subordinate function.Nine single indexes were converted into three principal components by principal component analysis.The cumulative contribution rate was 83.306%.The comprehensive indexes(Z)and subordinate function value(μ)and comprehensive evaluation value(D)of low light tolerance of eleven water lilies cultivars were calculated by subordinate function.’Josephine’,’Black beauty’ and ’Paul blue’ have excellent low-light tolerance.’Colorado’,’Margaret’ and ’Sauvignon’ have moderate low-light tolerance.’Meteor’,’King of the Church’,’Red fairies’,’Ledergor’ and ’Crissanza’ have weak low-light tolerance.’Josephine’ has the strongest low-light tolerance and ’Crissanza’ has the weakest low-light tolerance.2.Comparison of low light tolerance of lotus varietiesTake sixteen varieties of lotus as material,Shading treatment was performed with different gradients(full exposure,22%,58%,70%shading rate),indexes of morphology and lotus’,’Small cherry’,’Moonlight’,’Danyang crimson’ and ’Small baby’ had moderate low light tolerance.’Powder moon’,’Master’,’Sunset over the city’,’Stars dim’,’Red drum’,’Tongle’,’Hao gong crescent’ had weakest low light tolerance.Among the sixteen lotus varieties,’Xianghu yanyu’ had the strongest low-light torlerance.’Song river crescent’ had the weakest low-light torlerance.3Design and screening test of hydroponic for water lilyIn this paper,the research material was cold-resistant water lily ’White’.In order to solve the fixed problem of hydroponics water lily,four types of water lily hydroponic devices(U-shape groove,chuck,engraftment device,cylindrical cage)were designed.It was found that the water lilies treated with these four hydroponic devices were significantly superior to the control(without fixed device).The results showed that the hydroponic fixation device was helpful to the growth of hydroponic water lilies.In four water lily hydroponic devices,the best hydroponic device was the cylindrical cage.Its leaf area,crownthand biomass were significantly higher than the contrast and other three hydroponic devices.It was suggested to apply it in production practice and technology popularization.4.Design and screening test of hydroponic for lotusLotus were used as the research material in this experiment.In order to solve the problem of fixing lotus root in the process of hydroponics,four kinds of hydroponics devices(U groove,chuck,transplanter,cylindrical cage)were used to carry out the hydroponics experiment of lotus.All devices except divice C are effective.In all devices,device C is the best.The indexes of petiole height,leaf area,the number of leaf,flowering character and biomass of hydroponic lotus treated with device A were significantly better than the control and the other three hydroponic devices.lt is suggested that the device A be marketed as lotus hydroponics device.
