This paper designed the following three experiments to investigate the effects of Chinese herbal medicine feed additives on the growth characteristics of finishing pigs from the aspects of average daily gain, average daily feed intake, feed to meat ratio, diarrhea rate, basic diet cost and economic benefits.1.Effects of Chinese herbal medicine feed additives on daily feed intake, average daily gain and feed to meat ratio of finishing pigsSixty finishing pigs with a body weight of about 60 kg were randomly divided into control group, antibiotic group, trial group I(supplemented with 0.5% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive),trial group II(supplemented with 1.0% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive)and trial group III(supplemented with 1.5% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive). There were 3 replicates per component and 4 heads per replicate. The head by head was weighed before the experiment for 65 days, and weighed again after the experiment was completed. The results showed that the survival rate of pigs in each group was 100%.The average daily gain of trial groups I,II and III was 1.13%(800.00:791.03,P < 0.05),8.59%(858.97:791.03,P < 0.05)and2.92%(814.10: 791.03 g,P < 0.05);The average daily feed intake of the three experimental groups was not significantly different from that of the control group(P BBB 0 0.05).The feed to meat ratio in experimental groups was decreased by 3.45%(3.65:3.78,P < 0.05),8.12%(3.47:3.78,P < 0.05)and 4.77%(3.60:3.78,P < 0.05)compared with the control group,respectively.2.Effect of Chinese herbal medicine feed additives on anti-diarrhea effect of finishing pigsSixty finishing pigs with a body weight of about 60 kg were randomly divided into control group, antibiotic group, trial group I(supplemented with 0.5% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive),trial group II(supplemented with 1.0% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive)and trial group III(supplemented with 1.5% Chinese herbal medicine feed additive). Each component had 3 replicates with 4 heads in each replicate. The experiment lasted for 65 days.During the experiment, the defecation of finishing pigs in piggery was observed at irregular intervals every day.If the feces produced by a fattening pig are found to be shapeless, sticky or liquid,it is recorded as diarrhoea. After the end of the trial, the diarrhea rate was calculated. The test results show that the antibiotics and Chinese herbal medicine feed additive is added in the feed can reduce the diarrhea rate of pig,3 patients(test I group and experiment group II,III)with significant difference between antibiotic group(P < 0.05),and 3were extremely significant difference between experimental group and control group(P < 0.01),experiment group II diarrhea frequency of minimum.3.Effects of Chinese herbal medicine feed additives on economic benefits of fattening pigsAfter the end of the feeding experiment, the feed cost, additive cost, market price of finishing pigs and the data obtained from Experiment 1 were analyzed and calculated. The results showed as follows: from the perspective of feed cost, the feed cost per pig in the three experimental groups(experimental groups I,II and III)increased by 25.08 yuan,33.27 yuan and 33.31 yuan compared with the control group, respectively, but the sales income per pig was 81 yuan,158.76 yuan and 54 yuan higher than that in the control group, respectively. The feed cost per pig in the antibiotic group was 19.18 yuan higher than that in the control group. However, the sales income per pig was 68.76 yuan higher than that of the control group. In the end, each pig had a profit, among which the profit of trial group II was the highest and that of trial group III was the lowest.4.Promotion and application of Chinese herbal medicine feed additivesBased on the previous test results,1% Chinese herbal medicine addition amount with significant comprehensive effect was selected and promoted in the cooperative breeding experiment.According to the breeding scale of 1000 head produced in the cooperative every year, its application effect in actual production was studied. The results showed that the feed cost per pig in the 1% Chinese herbal medicine group was 33.27 yuan higher than that in the control group, but the sales income per pig was158.76 yuan higher than that in the control group. The average profit of each pig is125.49 yuan, and the profit of 1000 finishing pigs is 125,500 yuan.
