Clinical Study Of Acupoint Catgut Embedding In The Treatment Of Breast Hyperplasia

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of acupoint catgut embedding and sham acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of breast hyperplasia,and to explore the difference between the two effects,so as to provide a new clinical idea for the treatment of breast hyperplasia with acupuncture therapy.MethodsUsing randomized controlled methods,60 patients with breast hyperplasia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,with 30 patients in each group.The treatment group were treated with acupoint catgut embedding therapy,and the control group were treated with sham acupoint catgut embedding therapy.They all selected back shu points,experience points and luo points.Both groups were treated once every 2 weeks,twice every menstrual cycle,2 times for a course of treatment,with a total of three menstrual cycles,and the treatment stopped during menstruation.Before and after 3 courses of treatment,the two groups rated the patients in three aspects including breast pain,breast lumps and systemic accompanying symptoms.The rating scale adopted was used to evaluate the efficacy according to the standard established at the 8th meeting of the Breast Disease Committee of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Surgery in 2002.ResultsIn the acupoint catgut embedding group,there were one shedding case among 30 cases,and in the sham acupoint catgut embedding group,there were two shedding cases among 30 cases.Because the shedding cases haven’t completed all the treatment courses,the results were not included in the statistical analysis.Finally,there were 29 cases of the acupoint catgut embedding group and 28 cases of the sham acupoint catgut embedding group included in the data.1.Baseline:there was no statistical difference in age,course of disease,menstrual cycle,total score between the two groups before treatment and syndrome distribution,which was comparable.2.Breast pain:there was statistical significance before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05).The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Both groups could alleviate the breast pain,and acupoint catgut embedding group reduced the breast pain more than the sham acupoint catgut embedding group.3.Breast lumps:there was statistical significance before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05).The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Both groups were able to improve breast lumps,and acupoint catgut embedding group improved the condition of breast lumps more than sham acupoint catgut embedding group.4.Systemic accompanying symptoms:there was statistical significance before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05);The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Both groups were able to improve the systemic accompanying symptoms,and acupoint catgut embedding group improved the systemic accompanying symptoms more than the sham acupoint catgut embedding group.5.Comparison of efficacy between the two groups after 3 courses of treatment:after 3 courses of treatment,the total score of the two groups was calculated to obtain the corresponding improvement rate.In terms of the total effective rate,the total effective rate of acupoint catgut embedding group was 93.10%and that of the sham acupoint catgut embedding group was 55.17%,besides the difference between the two groups was statistically significant.The curative effect of acupoint catgut embedding group was better than that of the sham acupoint catgut embedding group.Conclusions1.Under the same treatment frequency,acupoint catgut embedding group was significantly better than sham acupoint catgut embedding group in the treatment of breast hyperplasia in breast pain,breast lumps,systemic accompanying symptoms.2.In terms of the total effective rate,the acupoint embedding group was higher than the sham acupoint catgut embedding group after three courses of treatment.3.Compared with the sham acupoint catgut embedding,the stimulation of acupoint catgut embedding is greater,the curative effect lasts longer and has more clinical application value.Therefore the acupoint catgut embedding is worthy of popularization and application.
