Objective: To study the rule and distribution of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndromes of diabetic retinopathy(DR)for understanding the changes of TCM syndromes in patients of DR and providing references for clinical diagnosis. Methods: A total of 300 DR patients who met the criteria in the outpatient and inpatient departments of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from April 2020 to February 2021 were collected.A case collection form was filled in to collect a number of clinical diagnosis and treatment information, and the syndromes were determined according to the scores of different syndrome forms. The distribution of syndromes and syndromes combination, syndromes and related clinical indicators were analyzed statistically.Results:1 The distribution of syndromes in DR patients: disease syndromes Yin deficiency(96.7%)>Qi deficiency(75.3%)>blood stasis(9.7%).Location syndromes liver(96.7%)>kidney(75.3%)>spleen(52.7%).2 Combined distribution of disease syndrome elements in DR patients:(1)The combination of the deficiency type syndrome elements: Double syndrome element combinations 37%,Qi deficiency and Yin deficiency(29.0%)>Yin deficiency and Yang deficiency(6.67%)>Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency(1.33%);Triple syndrome element combinations Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency and Yin deficiency(44.33%).(2)The combination of out solid syndrome elements:Double syndrome element combinations phlegm and damp(20.00%)>blood stasis and damp(0.67%),Triple syndrome element combinations blood stasis and damp and phlegm(3.33%).(3)The combination of syndrome elements on disease site: double syndrome element combinations liver and kidney(49.00%)> liver and spleen(3.33%)>spleen and kidney(1.67%),double syndrome element combinations of liver and kidney and spleen(38.67%).Conclusion: 1 DR patients are mainly essential empty but out solid. The essential empty is focus on Yin deficiency and Qi deficiency and the out solid mainly displayed damp and phlegm. The main disease site is liver.2 The basic pathogenesis: integrated dampness with phlegm is the important pathogenic factors based on Yin deficiency and Qi deficiency, and liver is the key disease site.deficiency of the spleen and kidney is closely related to the development of the disease.3 The differences of the distribution for disease-related syndromes in different course of DR patients, syndrome elements in BMI groups, syndrome elements in DR patients with TG,gender syndrome elements and syndrome factors among DR patients in different age groups were all statistically significant. There was no statistically significant difference in the distribution of syndrome elements in DR patients with abnormal HbA1c.
