Objective: the study was to observe the efficacy of Shugan Jiangzhi Decoction,a drug able to reduce fat content in liver cells for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),in reducing body mass index(BMI)and blood lipid content and improving inflammation and fibrosis indexes, color ultrasound results,TCM syndromes, and the liver function. Methods: 141 patients diagnosed with NAFLD,admitted to the Fifth People’s Hospital of Nanhai District,Foshan City from January 2019 to March 2020,were selected as research subjects. They were divided into three groups according to different treatment modalities in random:traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)group, western medicine(WM)group, and the combined group of TCM and western medicine, with 47 patients in each group.TCM group(taking Shuganjiangzhi Decoction): all the herbs, which were included in the prescription of Shuganjiangzhi Decoction, were soaked for 30 min and decocted twice, with 250 m L taken each time. The decoction was taken warmly after breakfast and dinner at 1 does a day in duration of 12 weeks.WM group(taking Polyene Phosphatidylcholine):drugs should be taken 3 times a day at 456 mg each time in duration for 12 weeks. The combined group(taking both Shuganjiangzhi Decoction and Polyene Phosphatidylcholine): the herbs, which were included in the prescription of Shuganjiangzhi Decoction, were soaked for30 min and decocted twice, with 250 m L taken each time. The decoction was taken warmly after breakfast and dinner at 1 does a day.At the same time,Polyene Phosphatidylcholine was taken 3 times a day at 456 mg each time during the duration of 12 weeks. The changes of TCM syndrome scores, liver function indexes, blood lipid indexes, liver color Doppler ultrasound results, and inflammation and fibrosis indexes before and after treatment were observed for statistical analysis and efficacy evaluation. Results: 1.Comparison of total effective rate: the combined group(91.49%)and the TCM group(87.23%)had a total effective rate significantly better than the WM group(74.47%)(P<0.05).2.Comparison of BMI: BMI of the three groups of patients decreased significantly after treatment(P<0.05);the BMI of the combined group after treatment was lower than that of the WM group(P<0.05).3.Comparison of TCM syndrome scores: after treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of the three groups were significantly reduced(P<0.05);the TCM syndrome scores of the combined group were lower than the WM group(P<0.05);the scores of hypochondriac pain, abdominal distension, bitter taste in mouth, irritability, nausea and vomiting, and loose stools in the combined group were lower than those in the TCM group(P<0.05);the TCM group’s abdominal distension score was lower than the WM group(P<0.05).4.Comparison of liver function indexes: after treatment,Alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(γ-GT)levels in the three groups were significantly lower(P<0.05);the three indexes of the combined group were significantly lower than those of the WM group(P<0.05),and the AST and γ-GT levels in the combined group were lower than those in the TCM group(P<0.05).5.Comparison of blood lipid indexes: after treatment, the total cholesterol(TC)and triglyceride(TG)content of the three groups of patients were significantly lower(P<0.05);the two indexes in the combined group were lower than those in the WM group(P<0.05),and the two of the combined group were significantly different from those of the TCM group(P<0.05).6.Comparison of liver color Doppler ultrasound results: after treatment, the liver color Doppler ultrasound fat distribution rate of the three groups was significantly lower(P<0.05);liver color Doppler ultrasound results showed that the number of normal patients in the combined group was significantly more than that in the WM group(P<0.05);the moderate fat distribution rate in the combined group was significantly higher than that in the WM group and the TCM group(P<0.01),and the severe fat distribution rate in the combined group was significantly lower than that in the WM group(P<0.01);the severe fat distribution rate in the TCM group was lower than that in the WM group(P<0.05).7.Comparison of serum inflammatory factors: after treatment, the levels of inflammatory factor interleukin(IL-6)and Tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α)in the three groups were significantly reduced(P<0.05);the two indexes in the combined group were significantly lower than those in the WM group(P<0.05).Compared with the TCM group, the IL-6 level of the combined group was statistically different(P<0.05).8.Comparison of liver fibrosis indexes: after treatment, the levels of hyaluronic acid(HA)and laminin(LN)in the combined group decreased significantly(P<0.01).The two indexes of the TCM group and the WM group were better than before(P<0.05);the content of HA and LN in the combined group was lower than that in the WM group(P<0.05).Compared with the TCM group, both HA and LN in the combined group demonstrated statistical differences(P<0.05).9.Comparison of blood routine examination results: after treatment, the white blood cell(WBC),hemoglobin in blood(Hb),and platelet count(PLT)of the three groups did not change obviously compared with those before treatment, and there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).10.Comparison of renal function indexes: the blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and creatinine(Cr)of the three groups after treatment had no significant changes compared with those before treatment, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: Shuganjiangzhi Decoction was used in conjunction with Polyene Phosphatidylcholine, which can significantly improve the BMI and TCM symptoms of NAFLD patients. The integration of Shuganjiangzhi Decoction and Polyene Phosphatidylcholine can decrease blood lipid content and inflammation and fibrosis indexes, and improve liver function and liver color Doppler ultrasound results of patients.
