Objective: To study the prevalence of unruptured intracranial aneur ysms in patients with pituitary adenomas, and to explore the possible role of pituitary adenomas in the occurrence of intracranial aneurysms. Methods:In this study,574 patients with pituitary adenoma who visited our hospital for the first time from January 1,2018 to December 31,2020,and 422 control patients who received physical examination in our hospital during the period were selected.Every patient underwent CTA or MRA examination. The incidence of intracranial aneurysms in the two groups was compared, and the possible factors related to the increase in the incidence of intracranial aneurysms in patients with pituitary adenomas were explored. Results: Of the 574 patients with pituitary adenoma included in the statistics,46(8.01%)patients had intracranial aneurysms, while only 9patients(2.13%)in the control group had intracranial aneurysms. There was a statistical difference between the two groups significance(P<0.001);and the age stratification of the two groups of patients, between the age of 50-59,the incidence of intracranial aneurysms in patients with pituitary adenoma was significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.005),and the two groups There was no statistical difference in the intracranial distribution pattern of aneurysms between groups. In univariate analysis, the age of patients with pituitary adenoma(P=0.007)and cavernous sinus invasion(P=0.036)were correlated with the increased incidence of aneurysm.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that cavernous sinus invasion(OR 4.478,95% confidence interval 1.912-10.488,P=0.001)was associated with an increase in the incidence of IA.Conclusions:The incidence of intracranial aneurysms in patients with pituitary adenomas is higher than that in the normal population, and the invasion of the cavernous sinus of pituitary adenomas may be an important factor for this result.
