| This present thesis is the first basic research for the research project,,European Obersea Chinese" of Zhejiang University,China. It is dealing with the influencing factors on the second language acquisition of European Oversea Chinese. There is a lot of research done due to Chinese migration to South Asia or the USA,but only a few works dealing with Chinese migration to Europe-but the amount is rising now. The same is with the field of the second language acquisition. There are a lot of studies done but only a few for the group of Chinese migrants. This thesis tries to built up a basis on which further studies could set up. There is a big need for this field of research because international migration of Chinese people is already an important issue and it will gain more importance in the future. Migrants who are integrated among the society of the host-country can make great contributions and are an asset. Language that is proved-is an important key factor for the integration process. But why not every Chinese who wants to live in a foreign country for some years wants automatically the language? What influences this process? Are there individual differences among the group of Oversea Chinese, are there differences between the countries due to their immigration policy? There are a lot of unanswered questions due to this field of research. The present thesis has not the aim to give answers to this questions, because this needs much more research and it is not finished only with one study. But this thesis tries to figure out important research questions as the basic for further research. The results of conducted interviews with Oversea Chinese from Europe, made on behalf of this research project by the author, shall be connected with theoretical treatises of migration and second language acquisition as well as existing research. Out of this concepts and ideas will be generated why,how and from what the second language acquisition of European Oversea Chinese is influenced. |
