Vocabulary Research On Ethnomusicology Of New Grove Music And Musicians’ Dictionary

The construction,development and perfection of Chinese ethnomusicology have endured great hardships for nearly one hundred years,but the New Music and Musicians’Dictionary,as the most authoritative music dictionary with the most extensive content in the world,seldom involves Chinese content in its vocabulary of "Ethnomusicology".This is worthly of systematic,in-depth and rational study and reflection in this academic circle.Based on this phenomenon,this paper starts with the Chinese content of the dictionary to attempt a dialogue with the previous research results and disciplinary context of Chinese ethnomusicology by using translation approach,literature review and comparative approach under the heavy translation work of "ethnomusicology",in order to explore the influence of western ethnomusicology on the disciplinary establishement and development of Chinese ethnomusicology after its introduction into China,as well as the mutual dialogue,harmony and difference between Chinese ethnomusicology and world ethnomusicology.
