Research On The Translation Methods Of Cohesive Devices In English Texts Of Science And Technology Under The Guidance Of Cohesion Theory

As there are great differences in cohesive devices between English and Chinese,it is necessary to deal with the cohesive devices in the original text and adopt flexible translation methods to make the translated text clear and readable.In this paper,using the cohesive theory of Halliday and Hasan,the author gives specific examples in translation materials respectively from the aspects of grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion.At the level of grammatical cohesion,the author summarizes the methods of reference retrieval,information supplement,changing the logical sequence.In terms of lexical cohesion,the author sums up the methods of literal translation,conversion and omission in order to provide useful guidance and reference for translation practice of science and technology.
