Kham Kalsang yeshe is a well-known Tibetan scholar,art educator,and an outstanding painter.Compared to his academic achievements,people’s understanding of his paintings is relatively vague.He has not only made great achievements in academia,but also practiced a variety of painting forms and created a large number of excellent works.Based on the growth background and artistic history of Kham Kalsang yeshe,the article mainly focuses on his painting art as well as explore the historical background by combining the formal language and content,reviews the artist on a macro and micro level.The field study method is mainly used to obtain the basic data required for the research,and through interviews with related artists to acquire the data for writing the paper.Moreover,the article unifies documentary methods,comparative research and mutual verification of pictures and texts to analyse his work and comb his artistic theory and thoughts.The paper discusses and studies from four aspects: Firstly,summarizes Kham’s artistic experience from the three stages:childhood growth background,the cultivation of ethnic classes in Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and the period of artistic work.Secondly,analyzes Kham’s various painting forms in combination with historical background and social environment to show Kham’s care for local and national culture and art through multiple painting forms in different periods.Thirdly,discusses the formation,development and artistic characteristics of "Karze New Tibetan Painting" so to explores his artistic value and inspiration to contemporary painting.Fourthly,conducts an inductive analysis of Kham’s artistic practice and art theory,at the same time explores his main artistic thoughts and summarize his views on the development of Tibetan art.At present,there is still a lack of systematic research on art creation,the ethnic class of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts,and the Karze New Tibetan Painting.Here we take Kham’s case study as the starting point to combs the related issues in order to provide some reference andinspiration for the development of contemporary Tibetan art.
