A Study On The Relationship Between Married Daughters And Their Family In Song Dynasty

Confucianism advocated “be obedient to your father at home,obey your husband after you get married,and submit your son when husband died” has severed the relationship between married women and their families to a certain extent.In fact,the relationship between married women and their families in the Song Dynasty is far from being so simple,and the interaction between them is characterized by diversity and diversification.From the perspective of norms and order to study the Song people’s basic attitudes and norms on the relationship between married women and their families,on the one hand,compared with the Tang Dynasty,the relationship between the two gradually changed from close to estrangement,which requirements for families contacts of Song people are stricter;on the other hand,the Song people’s attitude is contradictory.Although the clear blood relationship is unbreakable,they are worried that the contact between the married women and the families will threaten the social order of the patriarchal family.Therefore,the Song people’s not only make use of ritual law to regulate the relationship between the married woman and the family,but also provide a reasonable basis which is based on the unbroken blood and filial piety for relationship between the married woman and the family.From the perspective of life practice,through the discussion of the actual appearance of the relationship between married women and their families,it can be seen that whether the married women return to their home or assist their families,or their families visit and rescue the married women,they were far from being as polite as the social norms in the Song Dynasty.In actual life,the relationship between married women and their families is more diversified.The married women are affected by the social norms of men being superior to women,they have relatively limited help to their families.In comparison,the family’s assistance to married women is more diverse.The family’s assistance to the married woman not only reflects the strong backing of the married woman and affects the family status of themarried woman in the husband’s family to a certain extent,but also reflects the family of the Song Dynasty will not change his concern and help because of the daughter has married in most cases.In short,through multi-level discussion,we can see that the Song Dynasty society’s attitude towards the relationship between the married girl and the family is often contradictory,but it will always be attributed to the Confucian theoretical system for various reasons;at the same time,The relationship is not a single model,but in various forms of exchanges.Married daughters are an important link between the husband’s family and the family,and they play a key role in the social relationship network.The relationship between the married women and the family in the Song Dynasty changed from close to alienated gradually.It is closely related to the changes in the status of women in history,and it reflects the true status of women in the Song Dynasty to a certain extent.
