With the development of economy integration in urban and rural areas in China, the rural population continues to gather in the city, when hundreds of rural parents go to work, they have to leave their children. Rural rear children are a special social group of our country in the process of society. This study research on children’s parents role cognition and the relationship between their self-concept of from the point of rural rear children, when the parents go out for work. On the basis of the existing research results, we introduce intermediary variables:parent-child close, the parents teaching. We hope this study provide the reference for better education for rural rear children.The present study used survey inventories, investigated 512 rural rear children in Chongqing from 4 to 9 grades, editing the father’s role cognition questionnaire and the mother’s role cognition questionnaire of the rural rear children, FACES, EMBU and Song-Hattie scale of self concept. Through the study, we found some conclusions following:"The father’s role cognition questionnaire of the rural left-behind children" contain 23 items 5 factors, understand and encourage, dependable and seriously, emotional and care, democratic, family pillar. "The mother’s role cognition questionnaire of the rural left-behind children" contain 30 items 6 factors, good behavior, company and exchange, democratic teaching, emotional warmth, positive and optimistic, strict requirement. The two questionnaires have certain applicability on China’s cultural background of left-behind children.There is difference of rural rare children’s ideal father’s role cognition between male and female group. The female’s score in understand and encourage, dependable and seriously, emotional and care, family pillar are higher than male. There is significant difference of the rural rare children’s ideal mother’s role cognition between male and female in all factors. The female’s score are higher than male. There are significant difference of the rural rare children’s ideal in the father’s role cognition and mother’s role cognition in different grade. The higher grade, the higher score of the ideal role cognition are. There is no significant difference in rural rear children’s ideal father role cognition except the factor 4 democratic, the ideal father role cognition score of the children whose father worked out 1 to 3 years,3 to 5 years are lower than the children whose father worked out more than 10 years. There is no significant difference in rural rear children’s ideal mother role cognition except the factor 5, the ideal mother role cognition score of the children whose mother worked out less than 5 years are lower than the children whose mother worked out more than 5 years.There are no significant difference of the rural rare children’s real in the father’s role cognition and the mother’s role cognition. There are significant difference of the rural rare children’s real father’s role cognition in grade, the real role cognition’s score of 6 grade,9 grade children are higher than other grade. And there is no significant difference in the mother’s real role cognition. There is significant difference in rural children’s real father role cognition in 5 factors, the real father role cognition score of the children whose father worked out are higher than whose father at home, but the longer father work out, the lower score of real father role cognition. There is no significant difference in rural rear children’s real mother role cognition except the factor 2, the score of real mother role cognition of the children whose mother at home is higher than the children whose mother work out more than 10 years, the real mother role cognition score of the children whose mother work out more than 1 year are lower than the children whose mother worked out 0.5 to 1 year.There is significant difference between rural rear children’s ideal father and real father role cognition, and there are significant difference in rural rear children’s ideal mother and real mother role cognition, too.Over-protection and over-interference of parents has no relation with self-concept. The difference between ideal and real father role cognition has no relation with punishment and rejection and denial of father. The difference between ideal and real mother role cognition has no relation with over-protection and over-interference of mother. The cohesion with father has no relation with over-protection and over-interference of father. The other variables are up to the level of significance.The cohesion with father, punishment of father, warmth and understanding of father, rejection and denial of father have direct impact on self-concept; the ideal father role cognition has indirect effect on self-concept through punishment of father, rejection and denial of father; the real father role cognition has indirect effect on self-concept through the cohesion with father, warmth and understanding of father. The cohesion with mother, the real mother role cognition, rejection and denial of mother, warmth and understanding of mother have direct impact on self-concept; the real mother role cognition has indirect effect on self-concept through the cohesion with mother, rejection and denial of mother, warmth and understanding of mother.
