| In the end of the Middle Ages,Italian city-states Siena?s artist Ambrogio Lorenzetti was commissioned by the Siena city government to paint a fresco cycle called " The Allegory of Good and Bad Government"(1338-1339)in Siena?s Palazzo Pubblico.The fresco consists of three parts which respectively is “The Allegory of Good Government”,“The Effects of Good Government on Town and Countryside”,“The Allegory of Bad Government and Its Effects on Town and Countryside”.The fresco cycle depicts two different urban and rural landscapes under the good and bad government which with different political and philosophical concepts.From the perspective of art sociology,by using the research method of which,this paper respectively analyzed the social background and the art ontology language of the fresco.Connecting the two above factors,analyzing and interpreting the metaphorical ideas and narrative picture contents of the fresco.Collecting the historical data about Siena in the middle ages,summarizing the social,political,economic and cultural environment that influences the creation of fresco,so as to provide some realistic basises and references for the interpretation of mural?s metaphor and narrative content.The reaction of fresco to social background,that is,the social function of fresco,was Analyzed;Interpreting the political ideology implied by fresco and the advanced ideas of the artist himself,studying the unique presentation of narrative small units of urban and rural landscape,and analyzing the interaction between the artistic conceptual choices and the social background,ideology and regional culture of Siena at that time.Through the comparative analysis of the fresco and the current excellent art work cases,founding their commonness in the social,public and regional value orientation,so as to provide some enlightenment for the contemporary art creation and evaluation in regard to the value orientation.In addition,from the perspective of symbolic landscape,this paper analyzes the relationship between symbolic thought and realistic art language in fresco,so as to provide some enlightenment for contemporary symbolic landscape on dealing with the relationship between symbolic thought and realistic language. |
