A Textual Research Of Qin Dialect And Vocabulary In "Shuowen Jiezi"

“Shuowen Jiezi” is a magnificent masterpiece of the ancient Chinese in the linguistics history,which affects profoundly on the philology,phonology and exegesis of later generations.The collection of various vocabularies from various places in the book provides valuable written materials for reflecting the original features of Chinese dialects in the Eastern Han Dynasty time that the author lived.This article takes the Qin dialect in “Shuowen” as the research object,and uses classification,comparison and other research methods to analyze them from the following five parts: Introduction,Qin dialect vocabularies collected in “Shuowen”,types and origins,form and pronunciation analysis,comparison of Qin dialect and modern Chinese dialect vocabularies.To some extent,this article makes a beneficial supplement to the study of Qin dialect vocabularies cited in “Shuowen”.It outlines the basic features of Qin dialect in Han Dynasty,and truly reflects the important status of Qin dialects in the development of Chinese linguistic history.The first chapter introduces and discusses the research materials and research scopes firstly,and then summarizes the previous research results of various aspects and the current research situation of Qin dialects in “Shuowen”.The second chapter introduces and illustrates the Qin dialects in “Shuowen” from the perspectives of quantitative,internal regional distribution and related regions names.Based on this demonstration,the “Qin Dialect Vocabularies” is compiled and listed.From the perspectives of types and origins,Qin dialect internal regional distribution is described in more detail in chapter three.At the same time,it sorts out and discusses the rules of development and evolution of Qin dialect.In the following fourth part,with the 40 Qin dialect vocabularies identified in the previous vocabulary list,itanalyzes their forms,pronunciations,and semantics in turn.Lastly,chapter five inspects the residue,disappearance and migratory tendency in geography as well as the evolution of the word meanings of the Qin dialects by comparing the relationship of modem Chinese dialects and the Qin dialects in “Shuowen”.In this thesis,through the exploration of Qin Dialect from the perspectives of geography and linguistic,the specific definition of “Qin” and “Qin Dialect” are determined.And on this basis,40 Qin dialect vocabularies in “Shuowen Jiezi” are sorted out.Through the further research and analysis,it is concluded that even some Qin dialect vocabularies have died out through the development of language,but there are still 27 vocabularies remaining in modern Chinese.Through the further analysis of regional flow of Qin dialect,some of the 27 Qin dialect vocabularies still retain the same general scope as in “Shuowen”.The rest of the Qin dialect vocabularies move south and blend with the local dialect and merge with the Southwestern Mandarin,Jianghuai Mandarin and Wu Dialect.The Qin dialect vocabularies which move eastward and westward are preserved in Jilu Mandarin,and Lanyin Mandarin.Now they have become an important part of the northern dialect of modern Chinese,and then become modern Mandarin.
