A Report On The Translation Of The Excerpts From Hunan Tour Interpretation:Hengyang

Hengyang is a popular tourist city in China for its unique natural landscape and abundant tourism resources such as Mount Heng and Shigu Academy.The tourism in Hengyang developed rapidly in recent years,attracting a growing number of tourists from home and abroad.Under this background,in addition to a rich and detailed Chinese version,a multilingual version is also needed to meet the growth of foreign tourists.Hunan Tour Interpretation,a book for Hunan tour guides,was edited by Hunan Tourist Administration in 2014.This book covers dozens of scenic spots in eight regions of Hunan Province,and introduces most important tourist attractions in Hunan Province in detail,which is an important auxiliary book for tourism in Hunan Province.Hunan Tour Interpretation is based on the unique landscape characteristics of the local scenic spots and has a deep historical and cultural background.In this paper,“Cai Lun Memorial Park”,“The Memorial Hall of Former Residence of Marshal Luo Ronghuan”,and “Shigu Academy” have been chosen as the source text.Hunan Tour Interpretation is a compound text which integrates with information text,expressive text and vocative text.Therefore,the author should take into consideration the characteristic and function of the source text.The theory of “function plus loyalty”emphasizes the translator’s two-way responsibility to the source text and the target readers,and reproduces the text style and special function of the translation to the source text at the same time.Therefore,the translation practice under the guidance of the theory of “function plus loyalty” can convey the spirit of Hunan Tour Interpretation.Combined with the text characteristics,the author analyzes the content and form,the cultural phenomenon and the function of the text,and flexibly adopts a variety of translation methods,such as domestication,transliteration plus annotation,literal translation.In the process of translation,the author adopts the methods of field research and searching for parallel texts.By analyzing the practical problems encountered in the application of the theory of “function plus loyalty”,the author aimsto make the translation more accurate and detailed,reproduce the original style,and realize the function of tour description.Based on the translation theory of “function plus loyalty”,this paper analyzes the specific problems in the process of translation,and aims to explore the experience of the combination of the theory of “function plus loyalty” and the translation of tourism text.The author hopes to enrich the text translation of Hunan tour interpretation through this translation practice and contribute to the external promotion of tourism in the author’s hometown.
