| Since the Reform and Opening up,Chinese education has gradually shifted from exam-oriented education to quality-oriented education.In the 21 st century,with the development of economic foundation,civic quality-oriented education is more urgent.As an integral part of quality-oriented education,media literacy and mathematical literacy can enhance citizen’s ability to distinguish between right and wrong and promote democratic development.Therefore,the study of American educational literature translation,especially on media literacy and mathematics literacy,can supplement China’s qualityoriented education literature and disseminate the basic knowledge of media literacy so as to improve citizen’s ability to distinguish the true from the false,besides,it can also provide a valuable research method for educational literature translation.This translation report is based on the translation of the American quality-oriented educational literature for Ningxia Dianyi International Culture and Communication Co.,Ltd.from March to August in 2018.It reasonably applies Ernst-August Gutt’s relevance translation theory to guide and analyze the translation practice,so as to combine the learning of translation theory with the specific translation activities.This paper consists of four parts: the first part is task description,which briefly describes the research content,background,requirements and significance of this translation practice report.The second part is the translation process,introducing the whole process of the translation practice.The third part is case analysis.It firstly introduces the Relevance Theory and its feasibility to guide quality-oriented educational literature translation,then the writer summarizes two translation strategies from the perspective of Relevance Theory.The last chapter summarizes the results and shortcomings of the translation practice.Through the analysis of translation practice from the perspective of Relevance Theory,this paper concludes that the dual ostensive-inferential principle and the equal inferential distance principle of Relevance Theory can be used to guide the translation of quality-oriented educational literature.Under the guidance of these principles,the communication intention and information intention of the author can be conveyed through changes in manifestation and maintenance of the inferential distance. |
