The Influence Of Local Spatial Characteristics On Forming One Or Multiple Cognitive Maps

The reappearance of things that people have experienced in the past reality in the mind memory is called "Representation" or "Representation",and the environment of specific space and the representation of things are called "cognitive map".In 1948,Tolman first proposed the concept of cognitive map,that is,the ability of rodents and humans to have spatial cognitive map.After that,the concept of cognitive map has been widely accepted,and gradually become one of the hot issues in psychological research.On the basis of summarizing previous studies,this study uses the experimental control method to explore whether the characteristics of boundary local space have an impact on people’s building one or more cognitive maps in their minds,and whether the characteristics of regional local space will affect people’s building one or more cognitive maps in their minds.The study involved three experiments.Each experiment consists of three parts,namely,the stage of object display in advance,the stage of learning and the stage of space orientation test.In the first experiment,by controlling the fence with different colors and materials,we can observe the pointing error of the subjects under this condition.The results show that there are significant differences in the pointing errors between the two communities,indicating that the subjects have formed multiple cognitive maps in the environment of the boundary local space characteristics of virtual town surrounded by fences of different colors and materials.In the second experiment,by controlling the local space characteristic independent variable,that is,the shop type in the virtual town,we can observe the direction error of the subjects under this condition.The results show that there is no significant difference between the pointing errors of the two communities,indicating that the subjects may not have established multiple cognitive maps.Experiment 3 is the control group,which is also the fourth experiment in the study of Han et al.In the experiment,the characteristics of boundary local space and regional local space are removed,and whether there is significant difference between the two community pointing errors is observed.The experimental results are consistent with the experimental results obtained by Han.The subjects did not build up multiple cognitive maps in their minds,which proved the effectiveness of this study.
