A Study Of Sakuta Souchi And Pseudo-Manchurian Jianguo University

After the September 18 th Incident in 1931,the Japanese invaders established a puppet regime,Puppet Manchukuo,in Northeast China by using the name of Puyi,the emperor of the former Qing Dynasty.After the establishment of the regime,the Japanese imperialist was faced with the situation of scarcity of talents and the abolition of education.It was urgent to for them to establish a school to train political talents so that they can consolidate colonial rule in Northeast China and then invade Asia and dominate the world.The Pseudo-Manchurian Jianguo University emerged at a historic moment.It is a national university located in Xinjing,the capital of the Puppet Manchukuo and directly under the State Council of the Puppet Manchukuo.It is abbreviated as "Jianda",commonly known as New Capital Jianguo University.The university lasted seven years and three months from its founding in May 1938 to its closure in August 1945 following the collapse of the Puppet Manchukuo.In August 1937,the Jianguo University Order was promulgated,and Zhang Jinghui,the prime minister of Puppet Manchukuo,was appointed president.However,the actual management rights of the school was controlled by the Japanese who were vice presidents,including Sakuta Souchi(resigned in 1942)and Odaka kamezoo.As a right-wing scholar,Sakuta Souchi participated in the planning,opening,enrollment,management and specific education of the university.As is known to all,the Puppet Manchukuo has the Deputy director-general system.Therefore Zhang Jinghui was a leader in name only,while Sakuta Souchi was the actual leader of the school.During his tenure of nearly five years,he was responsible for the teaching and management of the school,which had a significant influence on the school and its students.At present,there are many studies on Pseudo-Manchurian Jianguo University,but there are few studies on Sakuta Souchi.This dissertation will sort out the relevant historical materials of Sakuta Souchi and Pseudo-Manchurian Jianguo University,explore the essence of Sakuta Souchi’s ideological content and its influence on the school and students,and make an objective evaluation of him.This dissertation consists of four parts.The first part introduces Sakuta Souchi’s life,his experience as a teacher of Hubei School of Law and Politics and his relationship with Hajime Kawakami.The second part introduces the main activities of Sakuta Souchi in the university,which are divided into three parts: the establishment of school in the early stage,the experience of teaching and his resignation and return home.Give a detailed account of his activities at the university.The third part is a summary and evaluation of the main thought of Sakuta Souchi.The last part is a summary of his influence on the whole university.
