| In recent years,new curriculum standards have put forward new requirements on vocabulary of high school students,and vocabulary teaching tasks have become increasingly difficult for English teachers to overcome.Vocabulary,as the cornerstone of reading,is the key to students’ ability to improve their reading comprehension.After the reform of the new curriculum standards,the reading comprehension score in the college entrance examination accounts for more than 70% of the entire roll score,showing the importance of vocabulary.In order to find a way to expand vocabulary,many teachers both at home and abroad have made efforts in practice,but with little success.Given this background,this study attempts to explore the impact of vocabulary learning strategies on reading comprehension ability of high school students in practice.This research is based on Krashen’s input hypothesis theory and second language learning strategies.At the same time,on the basis of these theories,in order to investigate the students’ understanding of vocabulary learning strategies,the author has conducted a questionnaire survey on the students tested.The results show that students also value the importance of vocabulary,but they do not have the scientific knowledge to learn vocabulary strategies.In order to further explore how vocabulary learning strategies can affect the reading comprehension ability of high school students,the writer,based on O’malley and Chamot’s classification of learning strategies,has chosen association strategies and word formation strategies to combine these two vocabulary learning strategies with reading classes,design related courses.96 students have been selected in the first two grades as the experimental object.This experiment lasts for 16 weeks.After the experiment,the experimental data was analyzed by SPSS20.0.The results show that the vocabulary level and reading comprehension ability of the experimental class and the control class are not much different in the pretest,but after the experiment,the vocabulary level and reading comprehension ability of the experimental class and the control class are significantlydifferent.According to the experimental results,the author points out that the mastery of vocabulary learning strategies is conducive to improving students’ reading comprehension ability.And according to the research results,the following research enlightenment is drawn:1.Vocabulary learning strategies can help students establish long-term learning motivation;excellent vocabulary learning strategies training can help students change their learning concepts;English vocabulary learning strategies training can also help improve students’ vocabulary knowledge.2.Teachers in different disciplines can communicate with each other to teach learning strategies;English teachers can use vocabulary learning strategies to reduce the teaching burden and clarify teaching ideas;teachers need to play different roles in different teaching stages. |
