Roland Barthes(1915-1980,hereinafter referred to as Barthes)is the most important speaker in the field of literary ideology and aesthetics in the structuralism to poststructuralism ideological movement of France in the twentieth century.Although the theoretical purpose of Barthes’ s thoughts has changed several times in different periods,it has always run through a main thread. The prototype was formed from his first book,Zero Degree of Writing and the Neutral thoughts was clarified in the later seminar of the French Academy with the theme of The Neutral. In Zero Degree of Writing, the Neutral thoughts mainly appears in the face of neutral writing, and with the further development of his thoughts, the meaning of neutral is no longer limited to just a writing style, but expanded to the exploration of neutral body view and neutral living conditions.Based on this, this article will follow the main line of the Neutral and conduct in-depth research on Barthes’ s neutral writing theory,Barthes’ s neutral state and the influence of the Neutral thoughts. The full text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter starts with the concept of writing and reviews the formation process of Barthes’ s writing concept.Barthes first proposed the concept of Zero Degree of Writing, then transitioned to the “intransitive writing” concept, and eventually moved to neutral writing.Barthes abolished authoritative authors in traditional literature. As a result, the status of readers improved, and the relationship between authors, works, and readers was completely changed. This is the hallmark of neutral writing.Fragment writing and disorderly arrangement are the main characteristics of neutral writing.Roland Barthes by Roland Barthes and A Lover’s Discourse are the products of Barthes’ s practice of neutral writing.Barthes’ s neutral writing is a general term for his writing, author, and text views, which reflect the Neutral thoughts of anti-depth,anti-whole,and anti-power.Chapter two begins with the relationship between text and body.Barthes found that readers will experience the feeling of physical pleasure in the process of reading the text, and this state of enjoyment became the neutral state that Barthes sought. This neutral state is also manifested in Barthes’ s view of body and existence.Barthes’ s childhood experience and physical state,as well as the body imagery described in his text, point to a different body than the conventional one, presenting a hermaphrodite neutral body view.Barthes participated in politics in a state of being present and not present, and responded to politics in a listening and silent manner, hoping to gain political freedom. In the course of How to Live Together Barthes proposed that keeping a certain distance and eliminating the interference of power to maintain the freedom of the pace of personal life.A comprehensive study of the three aspects shows that the Neutral thoughts is not only reflected in the theoretical aspect, but also reflected in the fact that Barthes has been seeking a neutral and free state. The third chapter mainly discusses the influence and limitation of the neutral thought.Discuss the positive influence of Barthes’ s the Neutral thoughts from an aesthetic perspective. The Neutral thoughts presents a new aesthetic concept with post-structuralism aesthetic characteristics and a new method of textual aesthetic acceptance. At the same time, this aesthetic view also reflects Barthes’ s experience and reflection on life. However,we cannot ignore the limitations of the Neutral thoughts, such as the practice of neutral writing, the integration of western and eastern cultures, and the nihilism of the Neutral thoughts. The content of the Neutral thoughts is huge and profound. It is not only an ideology of resisting tradition, resisting integrity, and resisting violent authority, but also a pursuit of freedom in the later studies of literature, body, and survival by Barthes. The Neutral thoughts still has strong vitality and influence.
