Climate change is now a major and urgent global challenge that concerns the survival and sustainable development of mankind.Countries and regions have made great contributions in environmental protection in recent years.By choosing the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit as the mock simultaneous interpreting task, the interpreter aims to draw the public’s attention on environmental protection, and to discover her problems in the process of simultaneous interpreting and make corresponding improvements.Based on the Effort Model by Daniel Gile, this report analyzes the interpreter’s simultaneous interpreting process and output from the perspective of cognitive efforts allocation.Gile’s effort model plays a guiding role in analyzing the interpreting process. After the effort model,Gile has proposed five laws in the selection of tactics in simultaneous interpreting. Therefore, based on the effort model, the interpreter tries to choose three of the five laws to instruct her selection of interpreting tactics. The three laws are Maximizing Information Recovery,Maximizing the Communication Impact of the Speech and The Law of Least Effort.Under the guidance of the three laws, the interpreter feels well oriented to select appropriate strategies in general when conducting the interpreting task. Moreover, the interpreter tries to choose proper coping tactics when encountering some specific interpreting challenges like high rate delivery, strong accent and large amount of terminologies.Despite of some imperfections, the interpreter hopes that this interpreting practice could serve as a reference for fellow interpreters when coping with similar interpreting tasks and that they can select proper coping tactics during the interpreting process.
