An E-C Translation Report Of Wells Forgo 2019 Annual Economic Outlook

The source text comes from the official website of Wells Fargo Bank.This report entitled“The Economic Development Outlook of Wells Fargo Bank in 2019” is issued On December 13,2018.This report analyzes the economic situation of Wells Fargo in the United States and discusses the impact of changes on the development of the company.The target readers of this text are supposed to be bank professionals,students who have strong interest in the field of banking and financial etc.This report could help them to learn about the development of American banking industry.Based on text analysis,difficulties encountered in this translation practice can be summarized as follows,that is the rhetorical devices appears in the report such as anthesis,simile,metaphor and personification should be correctly understood and translated.By doing literature research with the above questions,the translator found that the verbal humor theory is proper to guide the translation of rhetorical devices.The verbal humor theory mainly addresses rhetorical translation,and proposes three strategies: homogeneous conversion,heterogeneous conversion and zero conversion.Homogeneous conversion means rhetorical devices in the source language remain the same in the target language;heterogeneous conversion means rhetorical devices in the source language is transformed into different rhetorical devices in the target language,and zero conversion means rhetorical devices in the source language disappears in the target language due to cultural and language differences.Under the guidance of homogeneous conversion,literal translation and annotation are used to solve the translation of antithesis,in this way,the original antithesis of the source text is fully reproduced in the target language.In the same way,by the guide of heterogeneous conversion,adaptive translation and amplication are used to resolve the translation of metaphors and similes,so that the original metaphors and similes are partially reflected in the translation.Also,with the guide of zero conversion,free translation and omission are used to solve the personification translation,so the personification of the original text is not reflected in the translation.
