In the last few years,with the rapid development of Internet media,the school bullying incidents exposed by the media have shocked people's ethical lines one after another.Its severity and cruelty are horrendous.Bullying has gradually won people's attention and become a hot topic in the current society.In this context,the translator decided to select the book The Psychology of School Bullying as the original text of this translation practice.Nida's functional equivalence theory plays more emphasis on the language functional equivalence,instead of the linguistic form.So in the process of translation from English to Chinese,one cannot translate word by word,but should adjust and convert some English word class appropriately according to the needs of Chinese expression and on the premise of being faithful to the original text,so as to conform to the Chinese expression habits and avoid the occurrence of translationese.Therefore,the translator decided to conduct an in-depth study and summary of the word class conversion on the basis of this translation practice,which mainly including summarizing the research results of related scholars on the methods of word class conversion,summarizing the word class conversion cases in the translation practice,making a specific analysis of the typical cases.In the translation practice,the word class conversion methods include converting English nouns into Chinese verbs,English prepositions into Chinese verbs,English adjectives into Chinese nouns,English adjectives into Chinese verbs,English adjectives into Chinese adverbs,etc.
