| As is known to all,reading constitutes one of the essential methods to learn English.It also represents an important way for people to grasp information in daily life.In recent years,a growing number of investigations have been conducted upon the teaching methods of English reading at home and abroad,a new teaching model in the education realm has sprung up,viz.flipped classroom.As a new teaching model,it guarantees mastery of new knowledge before class.Then,students,during class,have sufficient time to participate in rich and diverse class activities,realizing the goal of knowledge internalization in class.This study applies the flipped classroom teaching model to the high school English reading class and raises two research questions:(1)Can the reading teaching model based on the flipped classroom improve students’ reading scores?(2)Can the reading teaching model based on the flipped classroom improve students’ interests in English reading?Taking No.8 Middle School in Urumqi as an example,this study applied flipped classroom teaching model to the English reading class of Grade eleventh,and selected 106 students from parallel classes as the research subjects for a three-month teaching experiment.In this study,literature review,experimental method,questionnaire method and interviews were applied.This study mainly explored the following aspects: first,flipped classroom teaching model in domestic and foreign application research status which explained its theoretical basis and related concepts.Secondly,flipped classroom teaching model was applied to the English reading class of Grade Eleventh for practical classroom application,in which class 6 was the experimental class which adopted flipped classroom teaching model and class 7 was the control class which adopted the traditional PWP reading teaching model.The author first applied the experimental method and questionnaire method to prove the hypothesis.The results of the pretest data proved that there was no significant difference between the two classes,vindicating that this test was feasible.After the experiment,adopting test method,questionnaire method and interview method to collect data,according to SPSS data analysis,the researcher drew the following conclusions:1.The reading teaching model based on flipped classroom theory can improve students’ reading scores;2.The reading teaching model based on flipped classroom theory can enhance students’ English reading interest.The enlightenment revealed is that teachers need to improve the overall quality,assiststudents in information collection before class,pay attention to individual differences,offer some encouragement to students who have difficulty in accepting this research method,and pay attention to the teaching plan,thus making flipped classroom achieve best results. |
