Research On Wu Liang’s Literary Criticism

Wu Liang is a literary critic with philosophical temperament in the diversified pattern of literary criticism in the 1980 s.In his literary criticism career of about ten years,many literary schools,such as "reform literature","root seeking literature" and "pioneer literature",have gained a lot and won the title of "pioneer critic".It is a pity that Wu Liang gradually faded out of the circle of literary criticism after the pioneer criticism,which led to the impression of the academic circles on Wu Liang only staying on the pioneer criticism,lacking the overall attention and Research on Wu Liang’s literary criticism.This paper,based on Mr.Wu Liang’s critical practice,discusses his literary criticism idea,literary criticism personality and literary criticism strategy,and demonstrates the significance of his literary criticism practice in the future literary theory construction.The paper consists of five chaptersThe first chapter explores the causes of Wu Liang’s literary criticism and summarizes the course of Wu Liang’s literary criticism.There are two reasons for the formation of Wu Liang’s Literary Criticism: first,he has rich experience in reading German classical philosophy and Western realistic novels,which helps him to be sensitive and sharp;second,he hates discriminatory politics and pursues individual freedom due to "the Cultural Revolution" experience in his childhood.According to the differences of criticism methods,the course of Wu Liang’s literary criticism is divided into two stages: one is the stage of social and historical criticism,which mainly criticizes "reform literature" and "root seeking literature";the other is the stage of modernism criticism,which mainly uses the methods of narratology,psychoanalysis and other modern criticism to comment on "pioneer literature".The second chapter summarizes Wu Liang’s idea of literary criticism.Wu Liang advocated "internal literary criticism",confined the starting point and foothold of criticism to the literary world,and tried to correct the "offside" behavior of literary criticism at that time.According to Wu Liang,criticism aims at "truth" and seeks for a definite answer in metaphorical literary images.Wu Liang is the discoverer and advocator of contemporary "literary circle",and the close interaction between critics and writers promoted the prosperity of literary in the 1980 s.The third chapter explores the subjective nature of Wu Liang’s literary criticism.He integrated the classical philosophy into the criticism,which made his articles have strong rationality and strong speculative meaning.At the same time,he faced new literary attempts with a "constructive" critical attitude and encouraged new literary creation.Wu Liang also actively used new criticism methods to convey new literary ideas and became the "pioneer" in the circle of criticism.The fourth chapter summarizes the practical strategies of Wu Liang’s literary criticism.Wu Liang’s literary criticism has the subjective color of impression perception,but his pursuit of certainty of criticism makes him consciously embark on the road of rational thinking.In terms of critical methods,Wu Liang used the method of "comprehensive comparison" to study contemporary Chinese literature,breaking through the limitations of individual literary studies.In terms of criticism style,Wu Liang has gradually lost the sharpness and sensitivity of young critics,from the early two-way confrontation "dialogue style" criticism to "monologue".The last chapter is an overall evaluation of the practice of Wu Liang’s literary criticism.It analyzes the theoretical value,contemporary enlightenment and limitations of Wu Liang’s literary criticism.
