In the process of language learning,language transfer has always been a key topic in the field of English teaching.According to the classification of language transfer,language transfer can be divided into positive transfer and negative transfer.Positive transfer strengthens another kind of learning;on the contrary,negative transfer hinders or weakens another kind of learning.In the process of language learning,positive transfer plays a positive role in promoting learning,while negative transfer interferes with learning.Therefore,in English teaching,how to effectively help students inhibit the negative transfer of Chinese in English writing,and make full use of the positive transfer of Chinese to form the habit of English thinking is particularly important in English teaching.In seven years of English teaching,the author finds that Chinese transfer has a great influence on students’ English writing.Therefore,the author puts forward three research questions: 1)what mistakes do students often make in English writing? What are the causes of these errors? 2)What kind of interference does Chinese negative transfer have in middle school students’ English writing? 3)What is the role of positive transfer of Chinese in middle school students’ English writing? In order to effectively answer the above three questions,the author referred to the previous research methods,and carried out a research in class one,grade three,Jinzhong No.2 middle school,Weining County.The sample is 100 compositions written by 50 students in class one,grade three of the school.In order to further clarify the above three problems and to improve students’ English writing ability more effectively.This paper analyzes the positive transfer of Chinese in students’ English compositions from five aspects: pronunciation(spelling),vocabulary,sentence,grammar and discourse.This paper analyzes the negative transfer of Chinese in middle school students’ English writing from three aspects: vocabulary,grammar and word order.The two most important points are as follows: first,in the process of junior high school students’ English writing,due to the positive transfer of Chinese,the level of English writing has been significantly improved;second,in the process of junior high school students’ English writing,the negative transfer of Chinese accounts for a large proportion,which is also a serious factor leading to the loss of scores in writing,the most prominent one It is reflected in the use of Chinese thinking and syntactic structure to write English composition sentences.According to the results of this study,the author analyzes the role of Chinese positive transfer and how to restrain the influence of Chinese negative transfer in order to effectively improve the English writing performance of rural junior high school students.
