| Reading is the core skill of every student in the learning process.Students’ reading ability depends on the correct and scientific guidance of teachers,which can be earnestly acquired and improved through their own reading practice.In the process of reading teaching,interpretation of texts is one of the important teaching preparations for teachers before teaching reading.Teachers must mine relevant information contained in the texts,among which,besides language itself,other text characteristics can also help teachers to determine the teaching difficulties,choose teaching strategies,and design appropriate learning activities,cultivate students’ reading skills and so on.The intention of this study is to find out the problems existing in English reading teaching in senior high schools by means of questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations.The author mainly focuses on the following questions:(1)What are the main problems that students have in the process of reading?(2)In the process of reading,how can teachers do a good job about text interpretation to help students better understand the text?(3)Through text interpretation,what aspects of students’ reading abilities be improved in reading teaching?In teaching practice,with the help of the teachers and the cooperation of the students in Bijie Minority Middle School,sixty-seven students took part in the study,in the teaching practice,although the teaching time is relatively short,the author draw the follow conclusions.First of all,from the author’s research,the author understands that students have difficulties in reading and interpreting texts.In view of these problems existing,it is necessary to find solutions and apply text interpretation theory into reading teaching.When teachers teach reading,they need to comprehensively interpret text materials and formulate reasonable teaching design and teaching objectives in combination with the actual situation and teaching needs of the students.In the process of text interpretation,teachers need to interpret the text from these aspects: 1.interpreting the theme content of the text;2.interpreting the genre of the text;3.interpreting the language of the text;4.interpreting the intention of the author.Through interpretation of the text by teachers and students and the reasonable teaching activities designed by teachers,students gradually develop good reading habit.Besides,students’ enthusiasm in reading class have been improved to a certain extent;students’ reading strategies and thinking ability have been cultivated.Of course,these are far from enough.In the future action research,the author will devise a revised plan,do a better job of text interpretation so as to help students cultivate their reading abilities.Secondly,teachers are guides and promoters in students’ learning.The performance of students in reading teaching largely depends on the effectiveness of the teaching methods and means adopted by teachers.Can teachers make a profound and all-round interpretation of the text materials and devise appropriate teaching objectives and activities according to the text and students’ learning situation in reading teaching? If teachers want to make English reading teaching more effective,they cannot do without the correct understanding of text interpretation.Text interpretation theory requires teachers to have high professional quality and strive to improve their own quality in teaching activities.Teachers must keep pace with the times and update their own educational and teaching concepts in time.Teachers themselves need to have solid professional knowledge,the idea of lifelong learning,and constantly develop and improve themselves. |
