| Grotesque is the main aesthetic form of novels of Bulgakov’s in the Russian Silver Age.In Bulgakov’s novels,grotesque not only expresses the author’s sharp satire of reality and the heavy repentance of history,but also conveys the author’s concern for the fate of the country and his call for the nice human nature.By means of grotesque,Bulgakov hid the melancholy and desolation under the mask of humor and farcicality,thus his novel had unique mysterious artistic charm.The first chapter analyzes the development of the word “grotesque” and expounds the main connotation of grotesque as an aesthetic pattern.On this grounds,penman analyses grotesque of characters,situation and images in Bulgakov’s novels and utilizes the theory of comparative literature for seeking the uniqueness of grotesque aesthetic pattern in bulgakov’s novels with comparing it with presentative work of writers such as Gothic,Kafk and Allan Poe to analyzing the similarities and differences.The second chapter discusses the causes of the grotesque aesthetic pattern in Bulgakov’s novels.The history and culture of Russia in the early 20 th century is the social cause of the grotesque aesthetic pattern in Bulgakov’s novels.At the same time,Bulgakov inherited grotesque elements in the creation of traditional writers such as Pushkin,Gogol,Turgenev,Dostoyevsky and others,then he had innovated these elements.The third chapter discusses the value of modernity and contemporary era of Bulgakov’s grotesque novels.Grotesque makes Bulgakov’s novels become the representative of novels in Russian Silver Age and the forerunner of world modernist literature.Bulgakov’s grotesque novels still have profound practical significance in society at present because of their reflection on the ethics of modern science and technology and thick humanistic concern. |
