Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua,as the well-known writers in the world literature,coincidentally use "violence" as the unique way of expression in their creations.This paper conducts a deeper study on the violence narration in their works from the perspective of comparative literature.In the first chapter,this paper analyzes the reasons why Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua adopt violence narration.From the angle of life experience,the special growing experiences of Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua make them choose violent images for creation.From the view of cultural influence,Mishima Yukio,strongly influenced by traditional Bushido instruction and Nietzsche’s tragedy philosophy,was enamoured of killing and death,while Yu Hua,by learning from Franz Kafka and William Faulkner,presents different thinking about violence at different stages of his creation,which helps to achieve a wide scope of creation.In the second chapter,this paper sorts out the commonality of violence narration in the works of Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua,and summarizes the violent events in the text from the individual and social aspects.Mishima Yukio indirectly showed the victimization of the people by militarism in his works,while Yu Hua more directly reveals the disaster caused by the "Cultural Revolution" totalitarianism and violent collusion.At the same time,their descriptions of violent events have the feature of repetition in form.In the third chapter,this paper sums up the differences in violence narration in the works of Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua.In terms of narrative style,Mishima Yukio regarded violence as a means to practice his creative ideas,while Yu Hua endows violence with absurd characteristics in his creation.About the role of violence,Mishima Yukio lead violence to destruction,in contrast,Yu Hua tries to explore the possibility of redeeming violence after his “transformation”.In regard to the subject of violence,in Mishima Yukio’s works,it can be divided into the subject of imagination and the subject of action.while in Yu Hua’s works,it can be divided into the urban poor,unknown "masses" and abusers in the name of public power.In the conclusion part,this paper gathers up the similarities,differences and causes of violence narration of Mishima Yukio and Yu Hua,and makes a brief comparative analysis of the value orientations presented in their works. |
