In the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries,Wilde and his works were gradually introduced to Japan.In the process of growing up as a writer,Yukio Mishima had a more in-depth understanding of Wilde and his works.Yukio Mishima was deeply influenced by Wilde not only in artistic view,but also specific creation.But Yukio Mishima has an ambiguous attitude towards Wilde and his works.Based on this,this paper analyzes the aspects in which Yukio Mishima is influenced by Wilde and how he surpasses Wilde.The article is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction part combs the existing literature about the relationship between Wilde and Yukio Mishima,and analyzes its shortages.The main body consists of three chapters.The first chapter clarifies Yukio Mishima’s reading and views on Wilde’s works.The second chapter analyzes Wilde’s influence on Yukio Mishima from four aspects: artistic view,homosexual writing,imagery and aesthetics.Inspired by Wilde’s idea of "life imitates art",Yukio Mishima believes that art plays an important role in life.In Yukio Mishima’s specific creation,he created "forbidden color" based on Wilde’s homosexual experience,which shows the anxiety of homosexual groups.Then Yukio Mishima also studied Wilde and frequently expressed the self configuration of characters with mirror images such as mirrors and portraits.Finally,Yukio Mishima inspired by the demonic beauty in Wilde’s works,he combines beauty with evil in his creation.The third chapter analyzes the changes in Yukio Mishima’s creation after realizing the shortcomings of Wilde’s works.This is reflected in three aspects: deeply reveals the identity of homosexual groups and highlights the contradiction between father and son;Learn from Japanese classical Neng Le,Kabuki and other styles to achieve the balance between sensibility and rationality;Pursue the radical ideal of living to death. |
