The Acceptance Of Dickens’ Novel By Tianyi Zhang’s Fairy Tale Creation

Charles Dickens(1812-1870)is a realistic writer in Victorian England.His works have been recognized as world classics after 150 years.Dickens’ novels first came to China through the translation of Shu Lin and Yi.Wei.Tianyi Zhang(1906-1985)was influenced by Dickens’ writing style and writing mode by reading Lin’s translated Dickens novel.This paper is mainly divided into three parts.The first part mainly discusses that as the source of inspiration for Tianyi Zhang and Dickens,the first World is the root cause of Tianyi Zhang’s subtle acceptance of Dickens’ influence.In their second world,Tianyi Zhang spread his acceptance of Dickens in his works.In this process of influence and acceptance,the achievement is not only the identity of Tianyi Zhang fairy tale writer,but also provides a valuable entry point for studying the fairy tale model in Dickens’ realistic works.The second part discusses that Dickens reflected the dark social reality of England at that time in his works,at the same time,the rich fairy tale color permeated his novel world.Oliver Twist、Nicholas Nickleby、David Copperfield and other novels are typical fairy tale novels,full of coincidence plot and happy ending.Dickens’ fairy tale novels deeply influenced Tianyi Zhang’s fairy tale creation.Tianyi Zhang’s Da Lin and Xiao Lin、The Bald King、The Secret of The Gourd and so on from the theme to the plot,from the pattern to the writing technique all laid the mark of Dickens’ novel influence.In Dickens’ fairy tale novel and Tianyi Zhang’s novel fairy tale,all the protagonists are circuitous beings.They implied the status of “prince”,with weakness and misfortune,along the way encountered persecution and test.With the help of the protagonist’s own efforts and the rescuers from the other side of the world,the protagonist successfully overcome difficulties and setbacks,and realized the transformation from “poor children” to “princes”.This change exists more or less in all works of Dickens and Tianyi Zhang,and thus forms the fairy tale model from poor children to princes.The third part mainly discusses that according to Propp’s division of fairy tale function items,the fairy tale model in Dickens and Tianyi Zhang’s works forms the functional structure of running away,persecuting,testing and growing.From the beginning of running away,the protagonist formally separated from the circle of protection,leaving the familiar hometown and going further.Persecution is the essential reason for the protagonist to run away.In the process of persecution,the protagonist loses the joy of life and has to flee elsewhere to find life.In the process of the protagonist starting a new life,the test has become the key point of the protagonist’s growth.After the test,he can get the final growth,become the “prince”,and have all kinds of noble qualities of the “prince”.In Dickens and Tianyi Zhang’s works,the function of growth represents material wealth and spiritual wealth.The protagonist either finds his noble status to gain wealth;or rescues his “princess”and becomes a husband and wife with the “princess”;or lives happily.These are all brought by growth,but also the protagonist’s most precious wealth.
