With the implementation of “the Belt and Road Initiative” and the “going global”strategy for Chinese culture, publicity work for Chinese culture has become the most prominent themes of Chinese cultural development. As the western gateway for China to open up to the outside world,Chengdu is also the core area of economic development in Southwest China and plays a leading role in “the Belt and Road Initiative”.Records of Chengdu’s Streets and Alleys introduces the history and culture of Chengdu with pictures and texts from the perspective of naming reasons, historical changes, anecdotes, historical events and folk activities.Translation of this book is of great significance for Chengdu’s cultural publicity work and promoting Chengdu to“go global”.The selected material for this translation report is Records of Chengdu’s Streets and Alleys. This report focuses on the issue of ignoring the importance of readers in the translation of foreign publicity under the guidance of “Three closenesses” principle. It discusses cultural-loaded words, street names, long sentences, and ancient poems in the original text from the levels of vocabulary and sentences.Different translation methods and techniques are adopted for different translation objects.Through the translator’s efforts, the original information has been better presented, and the “Three closenesses”have been basically realized, which can effectively play a role in publicity. After the translation practice, the author realized that we should continue to reflect on and sum up experiences in the future practice and strive for perfection in translation. The author also hoped that this report could guide her future translation work and learning.
