Study On Conjunction In Travel Notes In Tang Dynasty For Learning Buddhism

Travel Notes in Tang Dynasty for Learning Buddhism(hereinafter referred to as the Book of Travel Notes)was written in the late Tang and Five Dynasties.This period was an important period for the transformation of medieval Chinese into modern Chinese.Great changes have taken place in language.There are many oral components in this Book,which can reflect the actual face of the language at that time and is valuable for the study of modern Chinese vocabulary and grammar.Chinese is a language without morphological changes,and functional words and word order are important means of Chinese grammar.Therefore,the study of functional words is crucial to promote the study of Chinese grammar,and conjunctions are also one of the functional words.The author of Travel Notes is Ennin.Emperor Chenghe of Japan’s tomorrow and the 45-year-old Ennin sent Tang envoy with the government to enter the Tang Dynasty as a monk.During the period of entering the Tang Dynasty,he died nine times and finally returned to China in the first year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty(AD 847).During the decade in China,Ennin’s footprints were scattered all over most of China.He witnessed the large and small events of that era and recorded them in diary form.Although it was not recorded daily,it was a diary work according to the daily division.The content of Travel Notes involves all aspects of food,clothing,housing and travel,and is a very precious material for studying the social culture of the Tang and Five Dynasties.This article is divided into six chapters:Chapter one Introduction:The introduction clarifies the reason and significance of the topic selection,summarizes the current research status of conjunctions and Travel Notes,and determines the judgment criteria and classification of conjunctions.Chapter two Research on joint relationships synthesis: There are 32 joint relation conjunctions in the Book of Travel Notes,with the largest number of successors,with 13,followed by 12 tied conjunctions.There are also five progressive conjunctions,and two conjunctions are selected.While making a comprehensive description of joint conjunctions,more attention is paid to the evolution of the source flow of several commonly used conjunctions from the perspective of modern language theory,combing out the era of the formation of various conjunctions,and analyzing the usage changes in the evolution process.Chapter three Research on partial relational conjunctions: this part and the second chapter together form the main body of the paper.There are 32 partial conjunctions in the Book of Travel Notes,of which the number of causal conjunctions is the largest,10 are the smallest,and the number of modified conjunctions and purpose conjunctions is the least,only one.On the basis of exhaustive investigation,the conjunctions in the Book of Travel Notes are classified and described in detail,outlining the whole picture of the conjunctions in the book,striving to reveal the characteristics of the conjunction system of the Book,and summarizing the laws of the emergence,development and evolution of conjunctions in this period.Chapter four Characteristics of conjunctions of Travel Notes: This chapter mainly introduces the use characteristics,composition and collocation of conjunctions of Travel Notes.There are a total of 64 conjunctions used in the Travel Notes which follow the dominance of single syllable conjunctions in ancient conjunctions,and the dominance of double syllable conjunctions in new conjunctions,highlighting the Double-tone trend of conjunctions;the composition of conjunctions in Travel Notes is diverse,with a total of eight word formation methods;the use of various forms,and conjunctions can be combined with conjunctions.Use it,it can also be used with adverbs.Chapter five The case study of conjunction:Choose a monosyllable conjunction"reng"(仍)and the double syllable conjunction"ran ze"(然则)in the Book of Travel Notes.Combine the formation process of"reng"and"ran ze",explore their development process in combination with grammatical theory,and make a preliminary discussion on the limitations and causes of their extinction.The epilogue explores the grammatical mechanism of the formation of conjunctions in the Travel Notes,It mainly discusses from four parts: syntactic position change,meaning change,context impact and cognitive psychology.And summarizes the significance of the study of conjunctions in the Book.
