With the rapid development of economic globalization and political multipolarization, the world today is increasingly interconnected.Philosophy,as the essence of the intellectual wisdom of mankind, not only exerts an important influence on the individual outlook on world, life and values, but also promotes the development of human economy and society.A good translation of the original philosophy is not only a profound cross-cultural communication, but also a fierce ideological exchange and collision. This translation practice report is based on the translation for The Little Book of Stoicism, which is a popular science book on philosophy and it was collected in Z-library as an e-book in the year of 2019,belonging to the text of philosophy and social science. It has not been translated before. This book focuses on the description of Stoicism and the practice of Stoicism which can be divided into two parts: The first part is mainly about the typical representatives of the school of Stoicism and their deeds guided by the Stoicism with its ultimate goal-getting to the happy life. The second part is about how to apply the ancient philosophical wisdom in books to the real world and how to practice it in 55 ways. This book contains many metaphors and arcane philosophical terms,so it is not easy to translate it accurately. The author has chosen the first 3 chapters of The little Book of Stoicism as the basis of this report.Under the guidance of Relevance Theory, the author using a variety of translation methods and translation skills, respectively from the level of syntax, semantics and the culture and communication, makes analysis on the certain cases. What the author wants to achieve is to find the optimal relevance in the fixed context, thus the target readers can get enough contextual effects without making extra efforts and get the target text both academic and popular. The author hopes the translation can provide reference for future work of philosophical and social science texts. This report is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter is a brief introduction of the translation project and its significance. The second chapter is the main content of Relevance Theory. The third chapter gives a brief description of the translation process. The fourth chapter discusses the cases under the guidance of Relevance Theory.Last is the major findings and limitations.
