A Report On The Translation Of Operation Guide For Aircraft Pilots In Low Temperature,Ice And Snow Conditions(Excerpts)

In recent years,China’s civil aviation industry has developed vigorously.Being an important bridge that links China’s civil aviation and the world,civil aviation English translation is of great significance.In this translation report,the author selects the advisory circular Operation Guide for Aircraft Pilots in Low Temperature,Ice and Snow Conditions,issued by China Civil Aviation Administration as the source text,and chooses some chapters for translation and analysis.Guided by Newmark’s theory of semantic translation and communicative translation,the author makes an analysis of the terms with literal translation and zero translation,the non-subject sentences with restructuring,and the conditional sentences with conversion,amplification and inversion.The author mainly adopted semantic translation to maintain the structure of source text,to embody the style of source text,and to convey the information objectively,thus achieving faithfulness to the source text.On the other hand,taking the target readers into prominent consideration,communicative translation enhances the expressiveness of the text mainly through conforming to the expression habits of the target language.Under the guidance of these two translation methods,the author translated some chapters of this advisory circular.Through the analysis of this translation practice,the author has improved her translation competence and has achieved a deeper understanding of civil aviation.This translation project report aims at exploring the translation methods of civil aviation texts,with a view to providing a reference for other translators in translating civil aviation rules and regulations and contributing to the translation of civil aviation related materials in the future.
