The Study Of Poetry Appreciation Theory In "Ou Bei Notes On Poetry"

Zhao Yi was a poet,poetic theorist and historian during the period of Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty.His identity as a poetic theorist was embodied in“Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”,which was also called the Ten Poetics,as it discussed ten poets of the Tang,Song,Jin,Ming and Qing dynasties.Although “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”is a monograph on poetry,it has strong historical thoughts,which is caused by Zhao Yi’s status as a historian.It is the author’s status as a historian that makes “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”an interdisciplinary poetics.The objective appreciation attitude and conprehensive appreciation angles in “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”all benefit from Zhao Yi’s historian status,and these are also the value of “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”.Based on the text of “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”,this paper discusses its writing background,principles and methods of appreciation,connotation and characteristics of the theory of appreciation and the influence of it.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter discusses the social and cultural background of the creation of “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”and the influence of the trend of Qianjia poetry evaluation on its formation.The period of Qianjia was a period of high cultural prosperity and popular poetry evaluation in the Qing Dynasty.In this cultural environment,Zhao Yi actively communicated with scholars of various schools and learned their merits,which laid the ideological and theoretical foundation for the creation of “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”.The second chapter summarizes and analyzes the multiple principle and methods of the poetry appreciation theory in “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”.While pursuing the natural spirit of poetry,Zhao Yi also emphasized the acquired learning ability of poets.His poetic thought of “talent-respected”runs through the text of poetry,which is also influenced by the trend of Qianjia’s textology to some extent.Zhao Yi has multiple identities,such as litterateur and historian,he has deep and wide scope of knowledge,which makes the principles and methods of appreciation abundant and objective.And the respect of gentle thought,the appreciation on the pursuit of innovation,the appreciative methods are not only the inheritance of tradition,but also have the uniqueness of keeping pace with the times.The third chapter discusses the connotation and characteristics of poetry appreciation in “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”.Zhao Yi builted multiple dimensions of the theory of poetry appreciation and rich connotation including talent and learning ability,moral and poetic quality,natural and carving,inheritance and innovation,this,together with its historical spirit,open evaluation standard,comprehensive appreciation angle and other characteristics,are the research value of “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”,and is also the most worthy of in-depth analysis and reference for future generations.The fourth chapter discusses the poetic significance of poetry appreciation theory in “Ou Bei Notes On Poetry”.This paper analyzes the enlightenment to the later poetics theory and the guidance to the poetry creation by the historical appreciation method,objective appreciation principle,strict writing system and the opinions including emphasizing innovation,natural and learning ability.
